Just finished doing this myself, and it was actually quite easy. My only advice is to be gentle when you put the new battery box in. I think I was a bit more forceful, and I pushed a small bit of wood out. Not enough to hurt the guitar but just enough so that the new battery box is just ever so slightly loose. Thanks so much for the tutorial my friend. You're a life saver!

Duracell are one of the worst at exploding and ruining stuff. I'd suggest avoiding them and going with the Drumming Bunny brand. With any brand, if the instrument isn't going to be used for more than a month, I'd suggest taking out the batteries. Thanks for the video. Just easier to keep fresh batteries in it!

Hi great video. Many thanks for posting. I have an APX500 with the 9v battery holder. Can you advise if it is possible to change this for the double AA battery holder? Is it a straight swap or would I need to replace both the battery holder and the controller? Hope to hear. Thanks, Nick (UK) 👍

problem is AA batts only put out 1.5 volts & you need 9-good luck

My battery holder looks prime from the outside looking in through the holder as does the battery case and terminals, but changing batteries to fresh ones had no effect . It won’t turn on. I had noticed that a couple time when plugging in it would play if you held your mouth right and reset the plug, but then no matter how often I pull out and reinsert the plug nothin. Changing cable’s doesn’t matter. I’m not sure why the cable would cause the system not to turn on, but considering the price of the guitar compared to the price of a cable I gave it a try. So now it has become a project, requiring study. This video should help. Thanks…

Here's a tip: NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER use Duracell batteries. They used to be aces. All Duracells we've used in the past 10 years do nothing but leak. Took us a while to realize this.
