Garden way changed from the alternating pattern sometime between 1979 which my dad bought and 1981 which I bought and went with some funky pattern that had 3 or 4 grouped and turned towards each set and then some opposing. I remember reading in their quarterly bulletin that it was supposed to be a design to not clog up. Evidently they changed back to alternating which is the way I run mine now. 7 HP Kohler Mine has been like the energizer bunny. Thx for the video

Matt, thank you for this. I just viewed the factory tine installation and they show all tines facing inward, and all tines in the same order. So I am wondering why are yours alternating? Does it work better?
@MattsShop3 жыл бұрын
They are alternating in the parts diagram. It is the correct orientation with this tiller. Yes, it matters. The tines need to alternate to fully mix up the dirt.

This is the same way I always believed tines should be on a tiller. I have heard many people say that the cutter edges should always be toward the center. As in all the left tines on same side and all the right tines on same side. Can you tell me any pros or cons on doing them either way? Have you heard of putting them on same sides?

You want it set up so that no space is left untilled. For example, the middle of the gearbox wouldn't be tilled if the sharp sides were facing away from the middle of the tiller attachment. The setup I used is the recommended and best way.

It seems all the new Troy Bilt are setup with tines all pointing inward. I have yet to find out if this is due to new research on cultivating or just a heck of a lot easier to install haha. Example... kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKamY2OhptRgf6M

The inner tynes should be closer to the shaft housing, such as you had it originally. Makes a big difference and never touches the housing.

Are those OEM or aftermarket tines? How are they holding up after a year or so?
@MattsShop4 жыл бұрын
They are Aftermarket tines. From what I remember they were one of the original suppliers to the OEM. They are holding up great! I beat them up though red clay and huge rocks.
