same here thanks for the video. couldn't figure out the tension
@abtwopoint07 жыл бұрын
thanks for the upload, this video has helped me a number of times. only thing you left out is turning the crank counter clockwise to tension the belt. ..I notice you mentioned is because the motor is out of the car, I personally put the crank pulley on and spin it by hand, I don't use the bolt to spin the crank. cheers mate!

H22 engine should have been turned counter clockwise. Other than that, great video.

Hi there you are correct, I have done clockwise as the bolt was coming out so to make video smooth I have turned clokwise. But it works anyway.

The engine runs good,but see that tension slightly changes with the rotation. The balancer belt is loose but I didn't replace that one even if it will brake shouldn't cause problems. thanx everyone for comments good or bed but that's the way of sharing knowledge.

Balancer shaft belt must be quite loose otherwise will sound like a winding noise.I have tried different settings and loose is working fine,anyway u can leave it off the car will have more power and nothing will happen. ,just a bit more vibration on idle but hard to notice

I bought a second hand accord and has a winding noise at higher rpm, it more easy to notice when releasing the gas pedal from high rpm. How can I loose the balance belt as I want to check if the noise is come from this belt tension.

Great video. I'm trying to use your video as a reference on how tight to set these belts. My H23a1 had a horribly shrill whine due to the balancer belt and/or timing belt being too tight. I've since moved to an H22a with a Kaizenspeed tensioner and STILL have an outrageous whine, even with the belts "loose," (to my standards). In your video, your belts aaalmost seem loose enough to slide off by hand, (the belt arches between the cam gears). How does this engine sound while running? Thanks!

Do u turn your engine to check if its good clockwise or counter
@wblakesx11 жыл бұрын
do a compression check. or pull valve cover, turn engine. if the valves move freely as the engine turns they are probably ok.

No You can do it with engine in the car just take off LH engine mount and find right position of the engine.The problem will be last screw from the plastic cover to remove it :)

can I get the water pump out without COMPLETELY removing the motor mount from the engine side? there is one bolt looks hard to get to by mount? doing it while still in my 1995 Prelude Si

Hi I think you can try but i would change timming bet at the same time if You there.Use some biger wrench to unscrew engine mount.

I have the mount off I am actually trying to remove the water pump without removing the mount part from the motor its only 3 bolts with 2 other bolts going sideways. I am doing the job in my driveway outside in the cold and I am at the point of trying to get the water pump out. I just haven't tried yet its cold and before I did I noticed this mount might be in the way of the one nut top left of pump but I am not sure. I will know when I go try to it. In this video you have half the mount still on as well like I have. But can I get the water pump out? I try not to remove too much in this cold at this time. I appreciate your reply and video. Thanks a million.
@kjlong4206 жыл бұрын
I think I will just remove it. Then it looks like pump is clear and I can clean it and seal new one the right way. Thanks for the video. It helped me at the part with the bolt holing the tensioner. then removing it for good. I thought It was missing. lol. Thanks buddy. I LOVE the Honda Prelude.

ok for how long the car was sitting without driving ? first check spark plugs,air filter, vacuum leak,throttle body -spry some carburetor cleaner in, clean cold start valve(Idle control valve), see tps sensor,check leads,then put in the petrol full bottle of injector cleaner 1 bottle for 15 lt of petrol even it says that it will go on 70-80 lt, drive the car for 2-3 days. Let Us know I think injectors or IDLE CONTROL VALVE dirty.

Does anyone know if I can get TDC with the belt off? Can I turn crank with belt off to get the piston up #1 cyl then align timing mark in window on cover, then make sure cams and oil pump and balancer are TDC? Or do I leave belt on turning engine and other parts then take belt off to zero them In? I wish I wasn't poor I'd be paying someone to do this. Thanks for ANY help. God Bless ALL.

Jesus Saves hi I always leave belt off. Put it on when all is set just make sure nothing moved
@kjlong4206 жыл бұрын
Adam M hi Adam, so I can take belt off and move only the crankshaft to get cyl#1 top dead center, then move the cams and oil pump and balancer by hand to TDC and won't damage anything? Then put belt back on without moving anything. The springs don't seem like they do anything when I tighten the tensioner bolt. I'm stuck at this point. It's 14degrees here so I'm at mercy of the weather also. Yikes. I really apporeciate your help.
@amalik4564566 жыл бұрын
Jesus Saves You doing right way. Set crank , and cams TDC check it out in the hole in transmission too to see if is ok. If You use small bolt that spring is just bullshit, push tensioner up to set right tension then tight up the screw that will hold the belt to right tension. You won't damage anything as long as engine is turning freely. If you do something wrong then you will have problem to turn engine as at some point piston will touch the open valve. Then you can start engine even without balancer shafts just to see if is starting.Then if engine is working put all the rest back. But you can drive even without balancers. The car will have a bit more power but can shake on idlle
@kjlong4206 жыл бұрын
Adam M ok I got it together both belts on, everything TDC and spun engine 4 times back to TDC and all lined up. Only thing is main belt gets tight and loose as spinning. Meaning at one point sides are loose top tight then spin and sides tighter top loose buy never too tight or too loose I hope. Wonder why not even and will it even out when I start engine? I left balancer belt little loose as well rather than tighter. Tensioner looks like half way in area I put bolt to hold main tensioner temporarily. If I go any tighter on main belt it will be too tight on high spots. So I'm putting back together and starting it up. This car is gonna be my everyday driver. Lmao.
@kjlong4206 жыл бұрын
Adam M I took that bolt back out as it was out before. Should I leave it In? I put in to tighten tensioner then took out.
@gebhardt26 жыл бұрын
You turned the engine the wrong way but failed to explain why. Also, I think your intake cam gear is 1 tooth off. You needed to turn the intake cam gear 1 tooth clockwise, then slide the belt over it. That would line up the cam gear notches, crank dot and flywheel sight better. Obviously if the intake gear is off 1 tooth, it runs OK. When I had all the alignment marks perfect and the 1 piston at TDC, there is belt slack between both cam gears. You will see it in the timing belt because the belt will bow up a bit between the 2 gears.

This video is terrible. The quality resolution is obsolete and blurry. Your hands cover 80% of the work that you are doing. You are doing it too fast and not explaining anything. Your camera ia way too far to see anything a little better even if your videos quality is only 240p.
