Ready to run motors go upto about 60000rpm @ 2.4v. Handmade motors have been reported to go upto about 100000rpm @ 2.4v. It's not just the motor though. You need good batteries to supply enough power to get to those RPM levels. I would suggest keeping with upto 50000rpm motor and increasing the volts to see how many volts to get it off the rails. I have had a few trains that wont corner and it get boring quickly. Good Luck with your projects!

Justin, If you want to increase the speed there are a couple of different methods. You could use increased voltage, replace the motor or a combination of both. In some cases you can also re-configure the gear set for a faster ratio. There are also a variety of batteries in different sizes and voltages that you can use depending on space available. You wont need a handwound motor for a fast Spencer. There is a point when fast becomes a train just fallng off the tracks all the time which isn't fun

Thanks for posting the video. Wow wow wow. My son had one of his older trains wear its motor out and after your video I ordered the same motor on Amazon. Install took only about 30 minuets from start to finish. Lets say my son has more trains with sluggish motors that needs this upgrade. Be warned these little buggers are quick.

@nanotechmom I will try to give them a run over the weekend. I've got 3 different motor swaps done. They have low, medium and high specs so it will be interesting to compare to stock thomas.

Hi nanotechmum, I've posted a comparison video showing the performance of different motor swaps. Percy is included in the race. It's posted as a response to this video.

do you know any 60000 rpm or higher motors? I really want my Spencer to be as fast as possible. I tried fitting a systema motor into its drive unit but its too big and long. can you do a tutorial video for building you own motor. if i can get it 1 million rpm thank you so much. no that would be thanks a billion.

Brilliant video ! How does the Tamiya Mini 4wd Light Dash compare with the standard motor found on Plarail trains, in terms of speed and power ? A number of my vintage Plarail trains need new motors, and I am consideing this as a substitute.

does it work with hit toy company engines to?
@ToysTrainsThings8 жыл бұрын
Arthur Productions it should be the same or very similar with Hit Toy engines. There are a few different drive units for the different size and shape engines. The motor swap process varies with each drive unit type.

What is the fastest Tamiya Motor? I would like to know if there is anything faster than an HS-50000 Motor because I want to make my Spencer as fast as possible. I converted him to 6 volts and he sounds like an F1 x2 car. But he still stays on the tracks.
