Would you ever need to replace the preamp tubes and rectifier tubes

Excellent video and some original creative playing at the end. I have the same model Orange and I change tubes yearly or earlier if I hear trouble from one or more tubes. The Dark Terror gets interesting tones in addition to the Metal that predominates in YT videos.

Thank you so much for the kind words! And I agree, the DT is capable of so much more than metal tones. I actually play very little metal style music and find that this little amp can go just about anywhere with tones. How often are you using your amp? That’s a pretty frequent tube changing schedule! ✌️🤘

@@oddorder Dark Terror used almost daily and lots of hours, so I change power tubes every 12-14 months (to be safe).

I had an easy time getting a tube out, but a bugger of a time getting it back in. The tube in question is one of two preamp tubes in a Fender Vibro Champ Reverb, and by the time I gave up, the tube appeared to be in, lit up as it should, but it's hanging a tad lower that the preamp tube next to it. Anyone know if that's likely to be a problem down the road?

Do you know of any kind of tool or meter that will tell you if the amp is still carrying current? Say like a voltage meter? BTW, that's a rad Jag!

Yes, you would use a multimeter to check the leads of the capacitors in your amp. You want to verify that they have less than 30 volts left in them. Check out this article that I found, it does a great job of explaining how to check your amp for voltage, as well as how to drain the capacitors. robrobinette.com/Tube_Amp_Safety.htm Also, thank you! I gutted this guitar years ago, and the pickgaurd came from Decoboom.

what drums plugin you using? I really like this dry sound
@oddorder Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the super late response, the drums are actually one of the stock kits in Ableton. It’s called “dry sessions kit.”

Touching any vacuum tube with your fingers is the first thing one shouldn’t do. The oils on fingers is detrimental to tubes 100% of the time. Ugh.

12AT7 is not a rectifier tube
@oddorder Жыл бұрын
Hey, you’re right! I should have clarified my research before making the video. As it turns out the 12AT7 is for the FX loop and is actually in the V3 spot, which is in the front row of tubes. The V4 tube (the one I called the rectifier) is actually a phase inverter and is a 12AX7. Thank you for calling it out!
