This is a fantastic quality step by step video. Found this to send to my father-in-law who is preparing to perform this repair on his Transit Connect. It could not have been explained any clearer than this.

Excellent video and instructions, as well as the air filter hose. Oil filling my passenger side plug and car shutting off at red lights and running like crap. Got the new gasket and it's going on now! Thanks!!!! A+++++++

@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 when you changed the spark plugs you just swap like that or you had to change the spark plugs gaps?
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP1020 күн бұрын
My new spark plugs came pre-gapped but I confirmed they were set to the correct gap prior to installing them.

Great video, thanks for the run through. If the plugs you are using have shiny silver threads don't use anti-seize.

It does not leak from those unequal mating surfaces because of the RTV, imagine if you will like I will be doing when I replace mine adding a bead to all the gasket surfaces. I think it will protect the new gasket from mainly oil and some heat degradation. I'm also dropping in an aluminum valve cover for fun.

Thanks for the video. Could I know what cleaning solutions/tools did you use to clean the inside and outside of the valve cover? What kind of rags do you use?
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 Жыл бұрын
I didn't use any cleaning solutions or special tools. I just cleaned it up using an old T-Shirt cut into shop rags.

Thanks. I thought the previous owner of my 2010 connect was just sloppy when adding oil, but nope... it was a leak. By the way, shouldn't we oil lubricate the gaskets before inserting?
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 Жыл бұрын
I didn’t lubricate mine before installing and they are doing great.

Hi I was wondering when you had this Issue did the oil have a gas smell?
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 Жыл бұрын
No gas smell in the oil.
@Groobl Жыл бұрын
If your oil smells of gas, then the compression rings are leaking fuel from the combustion chamber into the sump. Some amount of this may be normal but you can perform a compression test to verify if you have a problem.

Can u please tell wat the number 2 cylinder is out of the four I have misfire and can't find the answer on this motor
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 Жыл бұрын
I don’t know. I would try a google search for the firing order for that engine.
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 Жыл бұрын
Actually I think the cylinders are numbered from left (passenger side) to right (driver side) 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 So that would make the second from the left when looking at the engine standing in front of the bumper the second from the left should be #2.
