Excellent video. Just did my 09 xc90 and AC is blowing as cold as it ever has. If you have large hands, don't be afraid to unbolt the high and low side pipes from the compressor to gain better access. Just be careful not to damage the o-rings.

Do not apply 12v to that control valve......! It not an "ON-OFF" Valve...it is variable. It receives a modulated waveform from the computer....the idea is to maintain the output from the compressor under the different RPMs of the engine. That is...The load on the engine is kept at an even level. Unlike earlier compressors.... they were either ON or OFF via the electro-mechanical clutch. I only recently discovered this on a Hyundai: ....clutch engaged...but no change in Suction-Discharge pressures. (as if the clutch was NOT engaged.) And a big thank you! You evacuated the system: Air in the system is the killer for the TXV/Thermal Expansion Valve. (Air contains moisture: Which freezes in the TXV..... No suction pressure.... Head (Discharge) pressure rises.... The HP Cutout switch operates and the system shuts down.) So few posters mention this. ("Got low pressure?...Bang in more gas!) (DOH!)

To me looking at the old one it looks like and on/off type valve solenoid but maybe the way it is designed controls the output. I’m not sure it is variable but it could be!

I believe we have the same compressor. Noticed you used PAG 100 oil. From what I've found online ZXL 100PG oil is not same as PAG 100 oil, I believe it's PAG46. Has it affected your compresssor or AC function in any way? Thanks for your video, will see if it will fix my problem.

I been having the same issue with one of my Benz. The more I’m researching it. It’s a known issue on the DENSO A/C Compressor. Today my nephew is going to be swapping out the solenoid valve with one from RKXTech. Since he is doing it at his work (full mechanic shop at dealership). I don’t feel like doing it at my friend shop. If it doesn’t resolve the issue next step is expansion valve.

@@matt-diy update: swap the valve and the cold and warm air is fluctuating. Let it idling for over 30min or so the temp got steady cold and is now reading 48F in the vents before 114F. Took my nephew 3 hours to change it out in my Benz.

Thank you for this video it'll really help me since I have the same issue with AC in my car with same symptoms, so hopefully this will work and the AC will start to cool again. I only have one question, shouldn't you flush the refrigerator gas before replacing the valve and recharge it again after installing the valve? What I can see out of your video that you replaced the control valve before flushing and recharging the gas.
