For anyone new. 1.) you do not have to shut the water off 2.) if you have trouble pulling out the filter, remove the shelf underneath to open the latch all the way

Good video. I was having probs pulling the old one out. The top shelf kept the filter from coming down all the way and unlocking. I moved the shelf down and the filter pulled out

Just so you know you don’t have to turn off the water to replace the filter it’s got a safety shut off when changing out filter.

Remember to pull the water filter housing all the way down past the pressure stop. That's when the check valve closes and you can up twist the filter and pull it out.

Just run fist about 3 gallons of water after install it,then water tastes much better than before. Works just like the original filter and it's cheaper

Well, having experienced a flood from a faulty GE fridge when changing a filter, I would recommend turning the water supply line off if you can. Trust me when I say that turning it off before the flood is a whole lot easier than turning it off as your house and basement are being flooded. Good day.

Lol... it may appear to be only one hole... but the short of it... how it works. There is actually a center tube that is smaller in diameter that the "single" main hole that serves as a "return" for the fresh water. The water enters in the filter through the main hole... then channels the water to the center tube. I hope that makes sense.... Thanks for the question and watching.

There is an inlet on the back of the refrigerator... turn off water source then cut the hose (inlet) and buy an in-line water filter type... put in in between the cut tube (plastic or metal tube)... let me know if you need link for the inline filter

Just read the directions in your manual. Takes less time than viewing a video. On ours..twist to left and pull, install push and twist to right.

Don’t force it out.... the old filter must swing all the way down. Remove the Top shelf... then you can swing the filter down even more... then it will come off easy.
