How to replace Water Pump on Dodge Charger & Challenger 392 Hemi 2015 to 2020 Full Tutorial.

This is a little tutorial on how to replace a water pump on your 2015 to 2020 Dodge Water Pump. This video will explain how to replace the Water Pump on your Dodge Charger or Challenger 392 Hemi 392. Some of these water pumps go out early and some of them go out after a longer Ownership. Mine went out at 60k miles, and it's not a hard part to change out.

Water pumps are easy as you already know. Just a word and suggestion, you need to do some preventive maintenance. Change your belt, upgrade your idler pulley, radiator fluid. These are parts being worn. You can find the upgrade pulley for the dodge product online. But good repair that saved you money. I do own a Dodge Challenger SRT8 and a veteran from the military Aircraft maintenance.

Any time you change the coolant pump change the thermostat, use a 180F stat, change radiator hosed if needed.

I have the exact same water pump and after changing it out I bleed air out through coolant temp sensor while engine is cold and off then topped off my levels but I’m still getting air pockets in my cooling system any suggestions? Or how did you go about bleeding your cooling system? A lot of people have bleeder valves but I don’t have one as same to you.

Question. When you filled up the coolant how did you bleed it? I watched other videos they have a a cap where the hose is in yours and they said they unscrew it with a Allen wrench but in our case we have a heater hose.

At 8:59 in your video - is that a locking electrical connector on your water temp sensor? If so, it looks like you may have forgotten to push it in so it locks on the sensor.. I have a 5.7, so can't say for sure since you have a 6.4 that red connector might be for something else.

Couple points that weren't in the video is the lower hose connection and how long nose pliers give you leverage to move the hose clamp and remove the small bolt on drivers side rail to pop the connector off. Nice video overall....thanks

Mines gone out 2xs now at 130,000 miles but first time at 50,000 now at 130,000 but it's not sounding ng as bad as yours it's clicking though. I was losing water somewhere never knew where then it started clicking an whistling I looked an seen mold an seen it was coming apart so no I gotta fix it again

No I didn't add any silicone, just make sure to clean up the area really good. Make sure you remember what screw goes where. It was a little confusing putting them back in the right spot.

When you fix your pump go ahead an replace your belt , the tensioner pieces an your water pump pulley an all other pulleys to your gonna have to anyways pretty soon after. Just do it now

Don't need no gasket there pretty much cardboard best is wax cardboard I had to cause mine thermostat blew in desert thank God I had new one an my tools but no gasket I used wax box dodge said it was better than a gasket. So I've used wax cardboard no gaskets since that
