A tip to make life a bit easier, rap the new bearing in paper and then a in a poly bag and put in in the freezer for as long as you can as this shrinks the bearing, and once you have the bearing out clean the hub put the and then put it in some boiling water, when the hub id hot it expands remove it grease it and fit the bearing quick as a cold bearing will almost drop in, but be ready as the bearing will warm quick and return to it's normal size, it works both ways external bearings water proof bag and in boiling water and the hub in the freezer if it fits inside the bearing.

Great video unfortunately My bearing seized in the knuckle and now I have a blown-out bearing inside and can't get it out. Tried heat, oil, and hard love....nothing, however, I really enjoy the videos and go here every time for tutorials. I cannot express enough my gratitude for these videos.

I used an inexpensive one-man bleeder on my 1998 Jeep years ago , worked great. Just a hose with a one-way check ball on one end that you keep in a container filled with brake fluid. When you pump the pedal it prevents air/fluid from going back into caliper. Hey ! i STILL HAVE IT !
@Dinie094 жыл бұрын
I've completed one of these before, our 10ton jack wasn't enough with all the rust, had to take it into a local shop with their 40ton. Took about 15tons to get the bearing out.
@MrSupernova1113 жыл бұрын
I have a 20 ton press like the one in the video. At one point I wasn't sure if it was going to work. But it all work out in the end. In the future, if I don't have a press I'm going to take the knuckle to the shop and have them do the pressing for about 1 hour of labor. 100% worth saving the headache. But if you don't mind taking the time to do it then a 20 ton press is the way to go.

What are the size blocks you are using when pressing out and in the bearing and hub? Wanting to do this to my Ford Focus also if you are pressing in a bearing and it splits does that mean you should take it all apart and order a new bearing?

anti-seize spray just makes a big mess and it gets all over the wheel studs as well. use fluid film instead witch is made for this. but that's just me I have the same veh only its the wagon with the 2.3 also ford says whenever reusing the same hardware use a little blue lock tight on the threads but that's how we do it at the dealer

Great instructional video. How far do you press the hub into the bearing? From what I understand when you press the hub too far into the bearing the caliper bracket will bind to the rotor.

Ever considered some grease to get those in?
@justYouJesus1God5 жыл бұрын
My mechanic took both sides apart, but he never did the steps you did. All he did was put grease on it, but never took the hub off or anything, it remained the same, it makes noise. And the breaks have air now, he never fixes the car the first time.

Wheel bearings (front) on a Focus 2014 have been a complete nightmare for me. I ham pressing the old ones out just like this video of yours, then pressing the new ones in (even froze them for a better fit when pressing) ... Everything looks and feels fine but the moment I install this back on the car, I get the famous wheel wobble again .. It's beyond me what I am doing wrong as I am doing everything by the book! ... Help!

You Def want to out this exle nut all the way on flush with the end of the axle before hitting it. The axle nut has a metal casing around it that holds the washer on and it can get deformed and you can't get the socket back on the nut, or the washer can come lose from the back of the nut.

There is also an abs sensor you have to remove, it sits right at the bearing

This guy is bonking the steering knuckle with a sledge. Using a soft socket to press the bearing, heating the bearing which will make his job harder, HEATING THE KNUCKLE is also incorrect. take his ASE away; Im doubtful he has it Hes gonna get someone killed eventually.
