If im wanting to replace two keypads with two tablets is there a 12v power adapter you recommend with the barrel jack to power both? Would i need two 12v adapters or do i double up the wires from both key pads into one barrel jack adapter?

If you're powering two tablets, you'll want to use a 12V power supply, but it’s best to use two separate adapters (one for each tablet). This ensures that both devices get a stable and reliable power source, and you avoid any issues with power splitting that could cause voltage drops or inconsistent charging. If the tablets are close by, there are ways to run the wires from a single power supply to both, but you’ll need to make sure the power supply has enough amperage to support both tablets at the same time. In that case, a 12V power adapter with higher current (around 2A or more, depending on the power draw of each tablet) should do the trick. Just be sure to use a Y-splitter cable or something similar if you're connecting both to one barrel jack. We recommend playing it safe and using two separate adapters to avoid the extra wiring and potential issues. If you need help picking out the right accessories for powering, feel free to email us at help@konnected.io

Hi. I'm new with Konnected Alarm. It is Very Cool Staff. Very easy to retrofit an old system to this technology. Couple of questions. I'm running Smartthings. If I have a tablet next to my door, how can I protect Arm/Disarm by code as on my old alarm system? Also on my old system, on the front door, I had a 15sec delay to punch in the code, but the rest of the house triggered instant alarm. How can I add delay just for one zone while the rest of the house trigger instant alarm?

Thanks for the great feedback, @TowerGMLtdInfo! Here's the scoop: Pin for Arm/Disarm: Unfortunately, SmartThings doesn't natively support adding a pin for arming/disarming. However, you can set up a pin code for this function using a third-party app like SharpTools. You can find more details and the setup process in our guide here: support.konnected.io/how-to-replace-your-keypads-with-a-tablet-for-smart-home-control. Delay for One Zone: SmartThings also doesn't allow for a custom delay on just one zone while others trigger immediately. However, we do have a guide on setting up a general delay with SmartThings, but it's not customizable by individual zones. Home Assistant would provide more customizability, just FYI. Hope that helps, and feel free to ask if you have any more questions!

I love your videos. One question. I have 4 of these alarm panels that I want to convert. So red and black are power. I suspect that all 4 pairs are connected in the alarm panel. Why did you combine the red and yellow and black and the green together ? Do you need to do that ? In the alarm panel I only saw you connect the red and black to the screw terminals inside the alarm panel. Can you explain a little more ?
@Konnected-io
@Konnected-io Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I just combined red+yellow and black+green to add more surface area to the wire, since it's carrying a decent amount of current for tablet. I explain it at ~5:20 in the video. It's just a technique to "double-up" the wire gauge since I don't really need the four cores. Not really necessary.

@@Konnected-io thanks. I purchased one of your kits to convert my old alarm system but I have decided to just rebuild it all using hubitat and new sensors the old sensors on the alarm are very old. So if I combine them like you did I don't need to disconnect anything from the alarm panel correct ? It will not short anything out?
@Konnected-io
@Konnected-io Жыл бұрын
@@dab7963 No, you will need to double-up the wires in the same way on both sides, and connect the other side to a 12V power adapter (like i show in this video).

I purchased your converter and a fire tablet from Amazon. Just realized I now need an additional power adapter and barrel adapter. What amperage do you recommend? Thanks!
@Konnected-io
@Konnected-io 2 ай бұрын
You’ll want a 12V power adapter with at least 1A (amp) output for a single Fire tablet, but if you're planning to run more than one device or something that draws more power, go for a 2A or higher to be safe. Make sure the barrel adapter matches the tablet's power port, typically 5.5mm outer diameter and 2.1mm inner diameter.

I want to replace an old motion detector with google nest cam (hardwired). Can I splice an existing nest power cable with this 12v adapter?
@Konnected-io
@Konnected-io 2 ай бұрын
It’s definitely possible to splice wires, but we cannot recommend attempting that or provide any specific guidance. The Nest Cam uses a different power requirement (typically 5V), and modifying wiring could lead to issues or even damage the device. For safety and reliability, we suggest sticking with the manufacturer's recommended power setup.

Any reason you couldn’t use a 5v plug in adaptor so you wouldn’t have to step down the voltage from 12?
@Konnected-io
@Konnected-io Жыл бұрын
Voltage drop. Running 5v over a longish distance, by the time the current gets to the tablet it'll be less than 5v.

With the exception of the 'Konnected' link, none of your other links work.
@windemon15346

Some of the non-functional links caused issues, anyway. An investment of a few hours to create self installer documentation would go a long way toward marketability. IMO, the existing, limited documentation puts the "horse in front of the cart" in some circumstances. The good news is that with lack of documentation, buyers become discouraged, which leads to great deals on the secondary market. This is how I replaced my boards, when either a Konnected how-to video killed boards or they were, in fact, DOA, and Konnected chose not to replace via warranty.

you need to make a video on how to get the software installed and work with a fire tablet. If you promote this tablet You need google services and this is not on the amazon store. If not i would support Samsung or ipad tablets.

You should absolutely tuck a wireless charger in that hole behind the tablet and you would be able to hide ay wires from view!
