Thank you very much for this useful video. Over here, on the west coast of Canada, paint and rubber usually lasts a long time. If I was you, I would apply a coat of silicone lubricant on that weatherstrip to protect it.

Yeah that's so much! I hate paying people for so something I can do myself...I've been riding around with tape on my to keep out the rain here in the PNW. Body shop said, they dont do it, they referred to me to auto glass repair shop who said they only do glass ( I know that is a lie); Toyota can't get me in to fix until January 2022, they said due to labor shortage...this womans going to give it a try on my 05 tc scion. thanks.😁

You may have to either replace that rubber, or maybe your window is going down on an awkward angle? hopefully that helps 😁

Isnt that part referred to as a car door window molding ? And isnt weather stripping actually the inside (both door side and body frame) rubber seal that can be glued or has adhesive that sticks back on?

A lot of water can go through the door etc. It also left a really sticky residue from the cracked rubber.
