Everyone always talks about how easy it is and how nice the LS engine, but they leave out the most common maintenance item, spark plugs. What a nightmare on pushrod cars. Especially when the engine is in a car and not suv or truck.

Liked the video a lot. However, I personally think that if you are going through this much hassle, it might be a good idea to replace the wires and coils at the same time. There was another comment about a misfire and I didn't want to have a situation where the plugs I just put in became fouled because of an old failing ignition coil. I also did the number 8 spark plug by using a short 2" extension and a thinner breaker bar, especially since some of these plugs can get somewhat seized. With everything replaced, it should hopefully last the entire time I'll own it. This was an excellent video.

The same, a 5/8ths spark plug socket...the only thing on those the coils are mounted to the valve cover individually so each coil is bolted with 2 bolts to the valve cover and u use a 10mm socket to remove em

@@t.r.m1138 oh ok just making sure cause i know the 3.8ls have issues with their tensioners and misfires...normally ls1s i dont find to be that problematic...but if the misfire is specific to a cylinder id check spark plugs first..u can even try swapping spark plug from cylinder 2 to 4..maybe even swap the ignition coil plus the wire as well just to see if misfire moves over...and u can avoid spending money yet kinda cancel out possible problems

Yes, considering most Fs will get o2 sensor codes after header installation you're not kidding, I had the plugs swapped just months ago because of firing issues and a year before that when the new headers went on. As to the rest of your theory I'm gonna be putting it to the test if I can't get the constant P0327/0332 codes to stop, but I'll be putting the plugs myself this time.
@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 2 жыл бұрын
@@g00dl00kinb0i yea those knock sensor codes can be for many reasons on these cars...could be cause the area gets rusty and doesnt provide a good ground...the wiring gets damaged or even the knock sensors not being replaced with oem's..hopefully ur able to get those codes taken care of
@g00dl00kinb0i
@g00dl00kinb0i 2 жыл бұрын
Again you're not kidding, I've swapped factory sensors with same Delco units 9 months ago myself, cleaned everything sealed with RTV - they worked. A shop swapped the plugs/wires and fixed a broken PVC valve for inspection.... Since then KS problems, I've changed the main ground strap, alternator, measured every wire and ground with a multimeter, ran a new KS signal wire from the PCM and even used 2 100k Ohm resistors to simulate a perfect KS - CODES ARE STILL THERE within a mile and half, I'm out of ideas ! Sometimes I hate GM...
@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 2 жыл бұрын
@@g00dl00kinb0i yea youve pretty much done everything u can..unless its an actual problem with the computer itself, which at this point is seeming quite likely based on all youve done...unless they did something when replacing the plugs/pcv..since u say it was fine when u originally replaced the knock sensors

Hello Backyard Chevy! This is Nove from AISKITS, I watched your channel it’s really exciting and impressive. This is a newly launched LED headlight! You can see this LED headlight, is not cool?it is our latest development of a product! In the United States, there are many classic cars, they are our closest partners! Now they may need some upgrades to accompany us better. Replacing and upgrading our headlights does more than making driving safer. They improve the look of your vehicle as well as its performance. LED bulbs have a lower power pull on your vehicle’s battery and system. They also give our vehicle a fresh and new feel with bright white light. I was wondering if you could do a share for it on your KZbin: • Introduction • Overview of features • Actual driving footage with the bulbs • Amazon link on the description for viewers interested in buying the product." Please let me know if this is OK with you. Really looking forward to working with you. Best wish, Nove
