I just spent 5 hours grinding, raking and blowing old mortar from a portion of my 1845 brick house. I have to be very careful because of the soft brick. I am inspired and educated by your video content. Keep up the good work! John C. Bielik Bethel, Missouri. USA

That old mortar looks like the stuff my Edwardian house is built from. Black ash mortar.

What make and model kango are you using? Thanks

Used to use high end ones but now go for a BnQ McCulloch breaker. They come with a 12 month guarantee for £120. I make sure that they are busted within the 12 months and go and get a brand new one under the guarantee. Quids in!

In which proportion Lime and Cement should mix. Mixing with Lime which cement is better one, Ordinary Portland cement or Portland Pozzolana cement. If Lime mixed cement used than curing is necessary? Please help me`
@dportercontracting9974 Жыл бұрын
Hi Jyotish. Personally, I don't mix cement with lime. I just use lime mortar and don't really use any cement based mortar for pointing anymore. Sorry but I can't help you on this one buddy.

Great video. What's your view on mortar rakes for angel grinders?
@dportercontracting9974 Жыл бұрын
Cheers Chris. To be honest, I've never used a mortar rake disk. The wider teeth have to be gentler on the stone than the diamond disks on mine. Sometimes the stone can be nicked and needs dressing up with a chisel.

@@dportercontracting9974 ah yes, that makes sense i suppose. I guess it can damage some narrow joints otherwise

👍What sort of lime and sand would you use for that wall?
@dportercontracting99742 жыл бұрын
For a sheltered wall such as this, I would personally go for a 3:1 Grit sand to 3.5NHL.

It's preparation, not preperation. Just don't use Preparation H on your roof.
