How to repot an Agave and separate its pups.

I repot my extremely pot bound Agave Americana and separate the pups off and put them up too. Agaves are really good plants to grow in pots as they can cope with a lot of drought so they will forgive you for forgetting to water them.Also when they are in a pot its easy to bring them under cover in winter.

How long have you had that agave? Just wondering how long before I see pups in my Americana also..

Iv had it 2 years, but it had pups on when I bought it. They don't take long to pup because iv taken pups off and grown them on and now they have pups.

I got an Agave Americana about 18 mo ago thinking it wouldn’t do well… I’m in Kent with a SSW facing front garden and it bloody loves it (It’s massive now!) so I got another smaller plant which has also done really well and that one put out 4 pups very quickly. I don’t think you should be giving these beautiful plants away for free although I’ve done so myself!

Also you might like Haworthia Cooperi… I’d never seen a succulent like it before! V pretty, native to S Africa and doing extremely well on my kitchen windowsill!
