I couldn’t get my engine light to display at first. Couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t coming on. I know it does when the ignition is on? Didn’t appear to be my IAT extension wires. Turns out having the engine kill switch disengaged helps. Lol.

I'm not aware of any production internal upgrades available yet. There's a few exhausts and I know a couple of shops are working on intakes. aRacer has the RCMini5 for the new Grom, but so far no big bore kits, cams, 4V heads or some of the other parts that make the bigger power. I'm sure it won't be long though...

If it’s just the exhaust, you’re probably fine with the stock ECU tune, might be slightly lean. If you do go with a reflash though I’d recommend a flash from DHM or CJR or getting the aRacer RCMiniX/AF2 setup over the Dynojet solution.

Not a requirement, the ECM will eventually adjust to the exhaust (I've heard after 30 miles or so). The manual specifically calls out resetting when adjusting: idle air screw, fuel pump, fuel filter, injector, O2 sensor or any changes to the cylinder head, valves, valve guides, valve seat, cylinder, piston, or piston rings.

Hi this method does not seem to work on my Honda Grom ABS 2022! The only thing flashing is the ABS light! Is it maybe it has not had enough time to learn anything yet! with covering only 200km? and I tried your method of the screwdriver! I ended up slicing my finger open with it! thankfully superglue stopped me from bleeding all over my new Yoshimura exhaust! I was also fitting! The easiest way to take off the cap is press down on one side and its a pull up tab on the other! Could not get it off with a screwdriver whatsoever!I guess I will just have to have it learn itself! MNNTHBX intake on back order!

I bought the ecu flash and Mnnthbx intake from dhm. After everything is installed, the rpms are low (around 1k-1,100k) and won’t stay running on its own. The bike also back fires when riding, which indicates it’s running lean. Will the ecu reset in this video be ok to do in my scenario? Will the reset erase the flash that I paid for from dhm?

ECU shouldnt need to be reset. You my need to ride more for the ECU to add info to the map especially in the lower fuel table. Resetting the map won't erase the flash though.

Hi, I need some help..... I followed the procedure to reset the grom 2022 ECU, I connected the green and blue wire, I fully opened the gas knob and switched on the ignition but the engine light stays on instead of flashing.. .....where am I wrong? Thank you.

No, it's not absolutely necessary; the ECM will eventually adjust to the new modifications, resetting it just speeds up the process.

What about fuel management? With those mods you need a remapped ECU (DHM) or stand alone fuel management (aRacer) - just resetting the ECU isn’t enough.

@ first thanks for your response. I’m not sure what my mechanic does . but I see he using OBD tools to setup something and he told me that mods will consume more fuel than the stocks.

@@chaosengly5011 If you had a real mechanic do the work then they probably installed an aRacer or Power Commander product, in which case I'd assume they set things up correctly at the shop and I wouldn't try resetting anything without consulting with them first.

Once you have enough bolt-ons like intake/exhaust/cam it's worth getting a tuned ECM (like DHM or CJR) or a stand alone unit like the aRacer. I've got the RCMini5 on order and should be installing in the next week or so; once you have the aRacer, this reset method no longer will work.

No, it won’t change the programming of the flash, just clear some of the air fuel info so that it can relearn with the new mods.

Will this work on a DHM flashed ecu because I got a check engine light after installing my chimera intake and did my DHM cam and DHM stage 2 ecu and got a check engine on my 2023 grom - engine runs perfect but it’s just the dang check engine light - any input would help. Also I did unplug my battery and waited a half hr to reconnect and still the check engine light is on.

I don't know anything about the CB500x, but first I'd check to make sure the throttle cable isn't too tight, causing the TB to always be a bit open. Assuming the TB can close all the way, I'd check the air idle screw. I don't know what it is for your bike, but commonly it's supposed to be 2 full turns from all the way in. you can turn it in a quarter turn at a time to bring the idle down a bit. When adjusting the air idle screw make sure to do it while the engine is running and warm and wait about 20 seconds between adjustments, it takes time for it to change the RPM of the bike.

If you're only doing an exhaust, resetting the ECU is sufficient. If you're doing much beyond that (intake, cam, etc.) you should get your ECU flashed or get a stand alone system like the aRacer RCMini 5

Resetting just clears the stored values to make the learning process easier - if you've run 100km with your setup, it's probably "learned" what it needs to from an AFR persepctive.

Not really; I didn't reset the ECM after the exhaust install, but since I've done about 100 miles since I put it on the ECM had probably fully adjusted to it anyway.

Check the IAT sensor extension, it’s the worst weather pack I’ve ever seen… I double checked mine and both wires had pushed out on the bike side!

It was the red wire being so lose on the iat extension it would just fall out , got a new one on the way check your guys connections !
