I’ve rewatched this almost every single time I’ve had to reset my ECU. Hahah. This last time, I didn’t get a successful pattern. I listened to him and cleared it first and then went back to resetting the ECU and it worked fine. So if you try to reset the ECU and don’t get the successful patten then go do step one!

Thank you that really helped out a lot and solved my issue with the high RPMs when starting. One thing that did happen, no matter how many times I did it I could not get the first step to go right. But still using the same blue and green wire I was able to reset the ECU and reset the TPS.

Hey, I saw your Grom was different than the black one that is in all of the videos. Can you give up details about all the mods you made, how it rode and revved before you reset the ECU, and how it runs now (with reset ECU), rpm limit, dyno numbers, top speed, etc...I had to sell my Grom because I was unemployed; and I would like to get another one with a big bore kit (Finbro 183cc or 235cc) with a super oil pump, and oil cooler. Everything else on the new Grom, I will keep factory (OEM) parts. I just want to make sure that I don't have any problems even though I thought my original Grom was great and fun to ride without any mods, for me personally. Thanks again.

+Chukwudi Ogbuawa The Red Grom was nearly identical in everyway to the Black Grom. Same 183cc BBK, PCV, WBC2, Ohlins Shock, Clutch Cover, Oil Cooler.....etc. The ONLY difference was the red bike had an FMF Full System vs. Yoshimura RS9

Nice videos you have, all of them. I have the Tyga carbon full exhaust, I-map (with map #3), camshaft type 1 and chimera air intake. What would you recommend? Reset ECU, clear Grom codes, reset TPS, or do all 3 steps?

Unfortunately, we have no experience with the I-map other then customers who purchased from someone else, and couldn't even get it to work properly, so they sold it. That's why we don't carry it.

I believe its always best to reset the ECU if the exhaust is changed because it does technically effect the fuel in a way. Plus theres no harm in resetting the ecu and clearing codes :)

Does this work on new Honda Groms? I have a 2025 and the light came on. I only added a USB charging port, which plugs into the diagnostic port. Did a short test ride and everything was good. Took it out again the next day and the check engine light was on. Not sure if that's what is causing the light or not.

As far as clearing the check engine light I went through the exact procedure and got the fast blinking lights. I turn the power off and remove the jumper and turn the power back on and the check engine light is still there

I don't have a grom but I have a 2018 Super cub 125 and I bought an aftermarket performance ECU from Yuminashi, After I installed it along with the heavy-duty valve springs my Super cub no longer runs or will start, I thought I might have to readjust the valves but that didn't work I also looked up resetting the ECU which I could only find info for the Grom and was told that they are very similar. Long story short do I have to reset the ECU" and how do I do that or Am I missing something. According to the directions from Yuminashi it was supposed to be an easy swap. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I am a newbie Grom owner from Spain. And did see adapter cables 3 or 4 pin to OBD connector. As I happen to have some lying around, I would like to know if it is possible to read out OBD info and what connector I would need to hook the MSX125 up to my OBD. Just want to see the faces of my dealer when I arrive with my stock bike, but with a V-twin sound coming out of my Bluetooth speaker. Revving synced through OBD values.

I took the outter snorkel from the air box and put on a new aftermarket exhaust with the dB killer removed. The bike is running a little funny. I feel like I lost torque but it mite be from putting in 93 gas. I’m going to switch back to 87 but do you think I should do all of this? I reset the ECU but you said I have to do a step before that in order for it to work ? Let me know if you think I should do all three steps. Thanks !

Unfortunately we don't do flashed ECU, or have any experience with them. Too much unknown. You'd have to check with the company you bought it from to find out why it's not allowing the reset.

Cjr replied to someone saying ride it 20-30miles and it should turn off. Happens to the monkeys apparently and not the groms. I got mine flashed by dhm . Got a question about my TPS. Sometimes my bike will act though ive closed the throttle at very low speeds with the throttle partially cracked open. I have to twist it a fraction more to continue cruising at the speed I was going. its only something that has recently happened and the only changes I made to my bike recently was that I found 4 of the airbox screws were missing so I replaced them. I have already reset the ECU so would resetting the TPS sort this or does this sound like a faulty TPS. its really intermittent sometimes its fine sometimes it does it. Cheers.

I found out what was causing it. It was my LED headlight bulb conversion or the DC conversion. I think it was giving off some interference on the ecu or somewhere else. I put it back to stock because I didn't like that the high beam light didn't work and it has gone away.

Don’t jam a fat paper clip or anything large in the TPS reset connector, or when u plug it back in it won’t make contact with the sensor. If that happens the engine light won’t go off and bike barely runs.use small wire that lightly goes in

So I can get the first 2 steps no problem, but when I go to reset the TPS I can't get it to do the flash. So I tried going back and just resetting the first 2 steps and started the bike. The throttle acts all funny now and then it starts flashing the MIL light and dies. Any advice?

it does take a little time for it to learn the New System. If everything was done correctly, it should learn after about 40 miles or so.

hi, I have yuminashi 6-HOLES LIGHT-BORE HP FUEL INJECTOR + KnN stock replacement air filter (mash) + full T akrapovich, ECU calibration pass ok with this set, but while after added "HIGH FLOW FUEL LINE HOSE" from yuminashi and bike seems overflown with petrol (smoke from exhaust when gear change, at neutral + full rev as result burned glove when shut exhaust with hand for second-2-3 "synthetic glove"). at low-mid RPM rounds goes dead/sometimes engine off on full rev. Just curious, may help ur advice with ECU reset, 1-2-3 steps to do? thx

Hello again, so far: 1 step cannot manage to finish, no flashes at all, tried 3 times - nothing happening 2 step done 3 step done, seems reset pass. (engine was very stupid, at 20% rev no power and rpm not clear, reset think fine) did overall 50miles but looks readjustment not fully finished. before tried town area, but from today ill try junctions 40-50mph where comp can learn a bit more about 0-100% rev on all gears.

One more thing. Do you happen to know why my bike keeps on stalling upon cold engine start? My bike will start and will have a rough idle and after a few seconds it dies. It needs to crank 3-4 times before it will totally idle without stalling.

My motorbike is throwing all sensor codes when I bypass that red connecter. Iv changed throttle body, ecu , harness wiring, 02 sensor wire, spark plug , coil pack, air filter/airbox and manifold, and iv changed the ect sensor. Bike has slugish acceleration anything befor 7k revs when7k revs comes the bike runs fine. Spark plug is white stuff but iv checked for airleaks no leak what so ever.

If the CEL doesn't blink in step 1, does it mean it doesn't have any codes to clear? I tried a few times but the CEL just stays solid. I was able to reset the TPS and temp sensor and got the blinking CEL for both.

As long as you got the confirmation blinks, that's what matters. :-)

I have two 2018 Groms. One doesn't blink and one does. The one that does blink, the CEL flashes once quickly, disappears and then flashes. Pull the paper clip out and put it back in within 5 seconds and it goes to a quick flashing, signaling success. The Grom that doesn't blink works normally with no paper clip inserted, CEL comes on when key is turned and goes off in 3 seconds. Ready to start. However, when the green and blue wire is shorted with the paper clip, the CEL stays solid when key is turned on. It stays on through removing and reinserting paper clip and there is no quick flash indicating success. It just stays on. So, I think it is not clearing the codes. Resetting ECU and resetting TPS still works in most cases because usually no error codes are there. I'm going to take the Grom that doesn't blink in to the Honda dealer because if there ever is a code, I can't clear it. I know this post is a year old at the time of this post, but it might help someone else.

A powercommander could help clean up the fueling, and make it run stronger.

You’ve most probably just leaned out the mixture by changing the exhaust from stock. You need to add more fuel. Either use an injector controller or I just go up an injector size. I think a Grom uses either a 90cc or a 120cc ‘B’ type injector. Going up a size to 140cc might help. If you want perfect fuelling you will need to tune the fuel map using a fuel controller and an air fuel ratio meter. Change settings, ride, analyse repeat till you get it right. Enjoy

+HardRacing i am trying to clear codes but when wire is in and key on the mil light comes right on. Remove wire within 5 sec and reinstall and mil light stays on solid, cycle key and then light is out.

Excuse me sir I have a problem My grom was running good until its start lagging at 5 rpm Took off the tps and clean it with carburetor cleaner and it got worse now it have rev limited on 7 rpm I tried the steps all the codes worked but still have this problem I need your help

That would definitely, require a mechanic to the bike in front of him to do testing and diagnostics.

+Rezz Rizzie Unplug the Engine Temp. Sensor on the side of the head. (just unplug it) Turn the key switch on and wait 20 sec. That will throw a code. Then turn off the bike, Plug the temp sensor back on, and Try again.

Try and unplug the Temp Sensor on the side of the motor. Turn the bike on....... DO NOT START IT. Turn the bike off...... plug in the sensor.Then start the video and do step 1

did this work? I have the rs-2 kit but it doesn't run right at all... It's like it's drowning when you go to higher RPM. that's the only thing i changed on it. should I try these resets?

I found that if I have no codes on the ECU then the first step doesn't work, but the rest will work fine

It might fix. Or you may need to turn down the idel screw a little.

Whenever you do a computer reset always make sure the engine is stone cold upon restart. It makes a difference.

step 2 worked for me but I never got step 2 to work... Doesn't make any sense... I followed this video to a T. Will see how it runs. It is all stock except for chimera intake and tyga exhaust. No new throttle body or anything. So I didn't do step 3.
