Dude, you saved my Ass. 2007 Mercury montego Premier. I was 30 miles out at a job interview, stopped for gas on the way home, and started the car. TCM is dead, and it's stuck in low gear. Then I found your video. The check engine light is still on, but it's shifting right for now. THANKS AGAIN for the video.

I tried getting the TCM replaced on my 2015 focus. The dealer said it didn't need it . But it needs a clutch replacement for $3,500. It has been reported that there is a shortage of TCMs.

I'm having TCM problems and have to wait to get it replaced. But, when it acts up & goes into limp mode with check engine light on, I do this. Afterwards, I have to start up and shut down the car a few times before check engine light goes off and I can drive normally again until tcm glitches again. This has saved me several times.

That helped me - I have Ford Kuga Mk2 with MPS6 DCT450 (powershift) that stopped switching to any gears. I wasn't able to put it in reverse, nor drive or sport mode. It happened after some problem while driving and car just shut off itself. On parking lot gearbox wasn''t applying R or D or S. It was just Parking or Neutra. After doing that procedure of reset it just alive :) WOW BTW. Step 7 should be "turn ingintion OFF and quickly turn your car ON (turn on not only ignition - but turn on the car) - and then Step 8, which is "Put it to D or S". I put mine on D and it worked.

I have just tried doing this 3 times and the gear shift is still very stiff and hard to move between P and D. The second run through the battery went flat and I had to use a jumper pack to start again. I took the car for a 60 km run and then came home and went through the process again and no difference and the battery is drained again. It looks like a new battery tomorrow. A question? If I do a slow charge on the battery over night to I disconnect the terminals or is it safe to charge connected. I am just curious if that would upset the TCM by charging or using a starter pack to jump start. Thanks

Ford Focus 2012. 55,000 miles. Car always serviced by Ford. I had 7 transmission errors including “transmission overheating” and “transmission error” and transmission malfunction, service now”. All errors occurred in stop and go traffic, both city and highway, uphill in hot summer months. I turned the engine off for 10 minutes, restarted and was able to continue driving. TCM was replaced by Ford about 3 years ago. Then last week in highway stop and go very hot, I had the transmission error again 5 times. I finally left the car on the side of the road. I came back at night to get my car. Car started right away and I drove home without any problem. 5 days later I brought the car to Ford to be checked. According to Ford there were no error transmission codes. Is this legit that error codes reset themselves if the car restarts and can drive or did I get b.s. handed to me?

2013 Escape. My project is trying to disconnect the negative battery cable in order to "reset" the transmission scheme. Will disconnecting the battery neg / ground where it is bolted to the firewall enough to clear out & "reset" the transmission scheme memory settings, or will the cable connected at the negative battery post need to be disconnected too?

Doesn’t work on many models. Waisted my time with these type of videos on my 2020 f150. Eventually had a shop reset with computer. You will know when it’s fixed.

I think after 1990 most all vehicle have a TCM Module if you have to get a new one it's quite expensive to get them reprogrammed to your vehicle I have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac I'm changing transmission in right now and probably going to have to have it programmed from the dealership😢

My 2016 Mondeo had 163000.00 miles on it and the issue I have from around 45000 miles is that it goes into a sort of safe mode where on the dash says seek owners manual , the way I get over this is to pull over as the car will not excellerate as it cannot select the next gear - I will pull over and turn the car off and wait for 20 ish seconds and then turn it back on and it resets the computer or something and then I drive off until it happens again - it may not happen again for thousands of miles or may be just 1 mile - any thoughts guys - Cheers (UK)

Damn i actually came here for my 2014 ford focus se. It was sitting in snow for 2 months. I go to drive it one day and its completely dead. If you connect cables to it the computer turns on but the engine will not turn over. Soon you disconnect the cables everything completely dies again

@@bocean07 don’t worry just go to a local certified Ford dealer the TCM is under warranty across for every Focus vehicle, Google customer satisfaction program Ford input your VIN# and print the TCM warranty information and head to the dealer, my car got fixed in two weeks with factory parts and I was provided with a vehicle loaner, just be kind and polite with the guys at the service center everything is a slow process at the beginning but it works at the end, remember is the TCM customer satisfaction program.

If u have automatic it's a simple process. Put the button on start on but don't start engine and then go into N for Neutral and then into P for Park. It should reset your Ford TCM and you can use it until it packs up again
