Hi! There are several ways to reset the password for a local account, and today we will look at one of them.
This is a fairly simple method, it works without programs and it will work on Windows 11, Windows 10 and Windows 8.1
It's actually a big problem when you can't open your computer.
You are trying to remember your password, but it doesn't work. You can reset your password and come up with a new one, but you didn't create a special password reset flash drive.

This works. Was a Windows 10 user and either my password got changed or hacked so I unplugged from the internet just to be on the safe side. Tried the Shift-Reboot strategy to get to command prompt and other settings but all those required the password that didn't work anymore. Thanks, this was a good learning experience.

Due to the latest updates from Microsoft, it became possible that in Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 the command prompt can only be opened using a bootable Windows USB flash drive, otherwise the system will require a password. @@nipun1561981 I'm not sure if your Windows USB flash drive is properly made. I do not have such information that using a bootable Windows USB flash drive it is now impossible to open cmd. Your problem seems to have a different cause.

I did not get user name after entering net user command and if i try to do first method then after selecting config it shows me system option and when i selrct that option then it shows me many other options plz help me i dnt want to lose my data
