How to reset service reminder in BMW 1-Series (E81 E82 E87 E88 inspection)

Perform BMW 1-Series service reset and clear the reminder in BMW E81, E82, E87, E88. This procedure does not require diagnostic interface. You can do it yourself without visiting your BMW dealer.
In this hidden service menu you can reset service reminders for:
legal and insurance,
emission check,
brake fluid,
engine oil,
general inspection,
front brakes (rotors and pads),
rear brakes (rotors and pads).

IMPORTANT TIP - this only works if your doors are CLOSED. Otherwise you get the 'exclamation mark' and the reset will not proceed. Otherwise works exactly as posted. Thanks for the post Mr. Fix! Very helpful...

Wery well hint. Also you can find hidden menu if you for first time hold the button very very long like 12s or so you can achieve the hidden menu. Usefull is 7.00 water temperature and 9.00 voltage of battery.

Hi! I have a BMW 120d m47. Few days ago i got the yellow check engine icon in my display. Took my icarsoft BM 2 scanner and found some error codes on air mass meter and the Intake air charger sensor. Both of these is been replaced. I deleted the codes but they just came back :( Is there a way to delete the check engine light in the display? Thanks for your very informing videoes :)

MAF sensor must be initialized with rheingold software to function properly... so don't waste money on some chineese scaners, either buy proper K-DCAN cable and study on how-to and install rheingold yourself(might be dangerous if you do something you're not supposed to), or visit your local serviceman to fix the issue... malfunctioning or not initialized MAF sensor might cause lack of torque on start(low rpm), because DDE gets wrong measurement and decides to ignore the MAF sensor at all and work on default program, this causes lags and lack of power... if you're not familiar with how the engine alnd all the sensors work i suggest you visit those who do... good luck also if you read the manual, check engine means exhaust problem, most probably DPF oxygen sensor malfunction or DPF pressure sensor malfunction or DPF itself being clogged... most of chinese sensors only scan engine module so you might not see the problem p.s. in case you find yor DPF being clogged, i suggest finding a man or a company to cut if out and block EGR/AGR functionin by flashing your DDE... it doesn't cost much but should permanently remove all the problems with the exhaust(just don't get caught if your laws prohibit this xD cause it won't be euro4 anymore)

hello, I just bought an e81 120d msport 2007, it was all working fine then one day I was getting to know all the buttons inside the car, when I turned the car off and locked it, I noticed that the dashboard light showing time and temperature, radio, start button were still on permanently, I had to disconnect the battery. Today I connected it again and went for a quick drive and noticed that the ABS light had come up on the dashboard and the speedometer wasn't working, although the RPM was. What can I do please?

not sure what was your problem, but if you read this - don't a buse disconnecting the battery on 1er e-series, it may cause FRM module malfunction randomly and you'll pay lotta buck to reflash it... its a know issue

Doesn't work at all here. 2007 118i E81. When I push the ignition without starting the car, nothing happens. When I keep it pushed in and release it, I get a big exclamation mark, something starts whirring onder the bonnet, and an alarm will sound. The only light on the display is the engine failure-light in yellow. It won't react on the BC button, nor the trip reset. I guess my car has some factory-built in lock against fiddling about with it. Will consult my (non-dealer) specialist soon, he'll probably fix it for free.
