How to Reset the Service Vehicle Light or Maintenance Reminder Light on a Mazda 3, 6, CX-5

How to Reset the Service Light or Maintenance Reminder Light on a Mazda 3, 6, CX-5 with an older user interface.
This is a bit counter intuitive, the basic thing is to just confirm the millage reminder is for 5000 or 7500 miles. By doing this it resets the counter...it does not show the count down letting you know how many miles left or miles you have gone over...which might have been a good feature.

Hi I have 2014 cx-5 2.5L, would you please tell me how to turn the blinking light "BSM OFF". I bought and self installed a $50 mirror with no issues, instead of an $800 Mazda mirror. But just want that alerting light gone because I won't pay $800 for the BSM compatible Mazda mirror. Thanks.

did the mirror have all the wire and connectors that the original mirror have? did you get someone to read the code? take it autozone if not, they read the code for free. i would get one from the dealer, plug it in only and see if the light goes off? if it does, then that means the replacement mirror has an issue and you can't turn off the computer BSM light. i'm thinking that there maybe another issue if the light is not turning off
