I've never been brave enough to try a pencil curl. Great job!

Hi I'm looking for 7inch high crown black felt hat navajo style with wide brim and I need it in a 7- 7/8 size

Fantastic work mate. We downunder in the settler reenactment movement have the same challenges. I too prefer a straight brim which was popular downunder during the period called the Pastoral with a 3" brim which is different from the more common stockman you see more regularly.

That’s so cool! And yes, the flat brims are my personal favorite! Thanks for the kind words as well, Epone! I appreciate it!

Just got a Bailey Gus felt and steamed the brim to have the sides curling up as it suits my face better. It looks great but the side edges are wavy looking. I'm thinking I need a slightly curved piece of wood to steam the side brims against so I don't have those waves (warpage?)? Love the pencil curl! What about using a pencil-diameter piece of flexible tubing to help with the curvage? Oh yeah, great channel compadre!

Thank you friend! And nice choice of the hat! That tubing idea is superb! I personally think that would be better than the pencil I used! Haha! Easier to contour around the brim!

@@SaintAndrewTV Thanks! I just re-steamed my brim sides and just took my time and got the warping out. Pretty happy with the result with my first steaming attempt. Take care.

I got a series idea about hat brims and crowns that would be interesting

I like that idea already! I’m a big hat fan!

Question for you, if I’m just trying to adjust a hat I own so that the sides curl up (that last step, the lowering of the front nose and back), do I need to do the rest of the steps here? Or will it work to just do that step? Thanks!
@SaintAndrewTV Жыл бұрын
It depends. If you want more of a “turn down” brim, then you may want to dip the nose and and back of the hat. However, if you want the side to flair, and have the front a back remain the same, then just turn the sides up and the rest will remain the same. If you want to go above and beyond, you could curl the sides while that hat lays on a flat surface. Hope this helps!

Nice job with that hat! I have a few fur felt hats but had no idea they could be reshaped like that. I think the final result looks great. One question: How did you remove the original band? I've been wanting to replace the band on one of my hats but I think it's probably glued on. Cheers!
@SaintAndrewTV Жыл бұрын
It depends. If it’s a lower quality hat, it’s will be hot glue that’s keeping the hat band on there, but it’s higher quality, it will be stitched in there. Now it’s still possible to remove, but be very careful that you don’t cut that fur felt! Hope this helps!
@thormusique Жыл бұрын
@@SaintAndrewTV Oh yikes! Good to know, thanks. It is a high-quality hat, so I will carefully try to figure out how the band's fastened. I have a new horsehair band for it that I plan to replace it with. Cheers!

Jesus Christ died for the sins of the world. Jesus is the only way to heaven. Anything else is a deception. With Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, He set an example for us. We now work out our salvation by changing the way that we live by imitating Christ. We are called to no longer live in sin, but fight against it for the rest of our lives with the help of Jesus
