Hello there. Good work on the hat Andrew. Say, does anyone think that the odd black hat Billy is wearing in the photo was a prop? I had read of Billy described as wearing a Mexican sugarloaf hat. Or, do folks believe that it was perhaps that telescoping type fur hat? Also, how do you like Bowlers as a western hat? Your videos are interesting. Keep up the good work!
@SaintAndrewTVКүн бұрын
Thank you, friend! I’ve personally thought of that. I know that props were used and that getting your picture taken back then was a very big deal. Bowlers or derby’s were the most common hat of the era, so very good choice in terms of a western hat!

Thank you very much for this breakdown on shaping hats. Billy the Kid was a prominent figure in Southern New Mexico. There’s a Billy the Kidd thrift shop in old Mesilla with a replica of that tintype that’s about 8 feet tall. The building the shop is in it was built around 1850 and was originally the courthouse in which Billy the kid was tried and sentenced to be home. Of course, that sentence was never carried out. Most people who have lived around here for a while think of him as a heroic figure. At least, the gift shop seems to be doing pretty good business. I would just say one thing. It probably would’ve been a good idea to wash your hands before putting that nice hat band on the hat. It looks like none of the black transferred but it did kind of worry me. 😂

Nice video…Andrew probably knows this ..Eastwoods holster was made By Andy Anderson and wasn’t really a buscadero holster..It was a metal lined walk & draw holster held on the belt with Chicago screws…Something that never existed in the old west.
