I have bought 2 red leather car seats . They have never had any loving care (feeding ) so are a bit dry and broken up. I had some neetsfoot oil left over from another job, and have spent all day feeding (them ) the leather. Its sucked up a hell of a lot, especially in the worn/dry /cracked areas /panels/bolsters.Watching the videos, they show/talk about cleaning with a chemical, then roughing up and doing any repairs to damaged or ripped areas.

Hi Groomlake, That is all dirt being removed. Our cleaners do not remove the leather colour. This chair in fact was "junk" - it was found somewhere, we took it in.. gave it a new home for demonstrations.

I have a cream 3 piece suite from DFS. it is 10 year old and is structurally very sound. The leather is showing signs of wear, particularly on the arms and around the stitching. it appears scuffed in places but only on the surface. it appears a little grubby in places where the leather is veined or textured. Hi it is a chicken and egg situation, leather that has colour applied to it is sealed anyway so feeders will not sink in, The other leather Feeders work on is semi aniline and pure aniline. With the balm if the leather colour has come away fully and left a lighter colour below then the balm will work to colour repair and re seal the surface again. It will also brighten the balance of the leather. You then need to apply Leather Protection Cream

Your color is off. it looks too new in comparison with the rest of the seat. To be a good technician you need to blend it or mix the color up properly and atomize the paint so it blends properly and add a flexible clear coat to the top coat. I give this "repair" maybe 2 weeks. I repair Leather and vinyl for a living so I believe I'm qualified to say critique this not bad for an amateur repair but for commericial use this application is useless and ineffectual

Diana Teran hi it won't work on faux leather jackets I'm afraid, there is nothing on the market that will stop faux from cracking in the future, to repair what you now you will need a colour repair kit, but I can't say if this will not crack again.

A bit more cleaning and then a spray or rag application of leather paint . Am I doing the right thing by feeding the leather first, because it needs to go into the body of the leather, but they dont show this. In order to apply the colour , they chemically clean and do the work. So, if you apply the colour, surely you are in essence sealing the surface, thus preventing any oil applied afterwards, from sinking into the body of the leather ? Its chicken and egg situation as far as I can see.

the first two times we cleaned it with the leather cleaner, at this stage no colour would have been removed, just the build up of dirt as you can see it was a dirty mucky grey colour. When we used the Commercial Based Alcohol Cleaner, yes some colour would have been released at this stage.
