But won’t it be difficult to get as good a match in colour as in the video? Is there some kind of colour matching service or something? If not, I would think to get a good finish like this you would normally have to do the entire chair? Would love to know other people’s thoughts

I have some questions if you dont mind: I just saw your other video with crackling leather (the tan chair) but you added the filler first. What determines when the sofa needs filler and dye or just dye only? Also, I have deep rips on the arm even the foam is slightly ripped. Is that okay? Another thing, some eejit tried to dye the sofa but got the wrong colour! I got it like this, is there anything can be done? The dye they used is more like a reddish colour when the sofa is more of a brownish colour. Can the dye be applied on top no problem? Do you ship the the UK? Thanks and apologies for the many questions

Once you have done a repair and sealed it, can you still use leather conditioner to moisturise the repaired area as well as the rest of the chair.
@Leathertouchupdye
@Leathertouchupdye Жыл бұрын
Hello Scott , this is a very good question. The truth of the matter is that over oiling or over conditioning will damage leather. We would recommend conditioning Leather once every 5 to 7 years. If you live in Arizona or a very dry environment, perhaps every 3 years. If Leather is over conditioned, or if body oils have saturated the leather the fibres within the hide will start to relax and pull apart. This causes Leather to stretch from body weight and heat and eventually rip in areas. Also, when applying conditioners to the surface of leather they should soak into the hide, and not lay upon the surface where they will attract dirt and be sticky. We have a very light conditioner that does an excellent job of penetration, and does not leave the surface sticky. Once you have refinished your leather, using our leather repair kits, the finish is now fully and completely protected. This means any spills on the leather can be easily wiped off, and all the wear and abuse will be transferred to the sealer or protective topcoat. If you apply oils or conditioners to the surface, you will be compromising the protective capabilities of the finishes, and if you have used our leather repair filler, the conditioners can seep into the cured filler and lessen the strength of the filler. That being said, if you want to do anything to your furniture, we would recommend wet cleaning, which means gently cleaning your furniture once a month with our cleaner, and then re-applying a protective topcoat, which is our leather protector once every 8 to 12 months . We would recommend to discontinue using a conditioner, perhaps once only 5 to 7 years.. Thank you for choosing www.LeatherTouchupDye.com

Hello Galina, our leather filler is NOT A GLUE BASED filler that would crack in a month like a lot of cheap alternatives out there. Our filler bends and flexes at the same rate as the leather and is very strong, durable and LONG lasting! We've shipped several thousand leather filler kits around the world and have not had one single incident of our filler cracking within a month or EVER! We've formulated and thoroughly tested our leather filler over several years of REAL, IN SHOP professional restoration work! All our leather repair products are considered a permanent fix solution and last for many years. We not only sell our leather repair products, we are also leather repair specialists Since 1898 and know the performance and durability of our products. We use these very products in our professional leather restoration service and have several thousand completed projects out there without a single complaint about the durability of our filler! If it seems there may have been an issue with our filler, there would have to be an underlying reason for it not working and we would be very interested in seeing photos of your leather where the filler was used! We did an e-mail search of your name and couldn't found any e-mail correspondence. We stand behind our products so we welcome you to please visit our website and contact us with photos here: www.leathertouchupdye.com/concerns/. Please fill in the form with the required information and upload a few photos of the area in question so we can see what you have and provide some recommendations. Hello @jonjones7665, our leather repair filler is a repair product, whereas our Leather dyes are a finishing/repair product. I guess what you’re asking for is almost like an automotive body repair product that you could apply into rust that would exactly match your metallic paint finish? I don’t think the technology is there yet. The majority of coloured leather fillers are just cheap quality silicone base products that do not last or have much strength. To answer your question if we were to add colorants into our filler, it would lessen the flexibility and strength of the filler. For that reason we do not have colored leather fillers. Thank you for the great question and for choosing LeatherTouchupDye.com

+Sam W Hello Sam, if you go to the order now page www.leathertouchupdye.com/ and scroll down a bit - you will see 3 couches - a bycast couch, and finished leather couch and an aniline leather couch. Click on them to find out much more information or see below. Thank you for choosing LeatherTouchupDye.com Bonded, Bycast or Bicast Leather Products The most economical type of leather - usually a shiny dark brown or black. color. Made from cheaper cowhides, the skins have a polyurethane ( vinyl ) coating applied to the surface. These leathers will not as fade as easy and will resist spillage. However they are more prone ripping in areas because cowhide does not have a great deal of elasticity. Common problems for this type of leather include PEELING of the finish, BUBBLING, TEARS and CRACKING of the finish. Our Bycast Leather Repairs Kits and Leather Repair Filler kits can fix ALL of these issues. Finished Leather Products Also known as “Painted Leather”. The most common leather for furniture, automotive, marine and aircraft. The leather is treated with a protected finish that resists spillage, wear and fading . Most colors are one straight shade. If you were to spill something on the surface you could wipe it clean without leaving a stain. Aging Characteristics: Fading, topical wear and possible cracking. Our Finished Leather Dye Repair Kits can fix fading, correct wear, cover over ingrained stains and fully protect the leather like new again!Antiqued or Aniline Leather - Renew Leather Dyes Also known as “stained leather”. The more luxurious, softer and richer looking leathers. These leathers are dyed with an ANILINE dye ( similar to a wood stain). You can actually see the leather hide, and it has a lot of tonal hues depending on lighting conditions. They are much more susceptible to spillage and extreme fading. Our Renew Leather Dye Repair Kits are designed to mimic the look of an aniline dyed leather when applied correctly. The Renew Leather Dyes will gently richen the color - coat by coat - and cover over ingrained stains and re-protect the leather to like New condition!
