i have been a installer for 40+ years great video man. That is the one mechanism I never even tried to tackle.

Thanks so much for your help. I appreciate your instruction. I tried several places to get it fixed, and they all declined. Therefore, your video was invaluable.

Thanks for the video. We've been searching for directions on how to replace the lift tape on the Levolor counterbalance clutch system to no avail. I stumbled on your video by accident. Lucky me.

Great video...so far. I have it all pulled apart as instructed. I can't for the life of me find where to buy the lift tape. I am hesitant to buy a really thin round cord as I worry it won't work as planned. Maybe that will work?

Awesome video and the information is still valid today. (2020)

I have the same blind (in video) which suffered a lift tape breakage. Your video made the repair look easy so I purchased some lift tape. My blind was 60" so I cut the tape to 72". I went thru the entire process but left about 6" at bottom (which looked like what you had in video). I remount and the blind was 8" too short when pulled down. I thought I could be clever and remove one washer and let out some length but of course the blind fell pulling the tape inside the blind. So I started over and redid the entire process winding up all the tape leaving just enough to tie the washer. I remount and somehow the extended blind is 3" still too short. I don't get it. I taped the lift tape to my extended tape measure so I know it was 72". Perhaps it is not winding/unwinding correctly. I am afraid to pull with any force cause the tape will break. I spent a good 3 hours on this. I am replacing my windows probably next month (replacements in the garage) and will re-do all casing and trim. I will use this re-strung blind as a temporary sun shade but will be buying new blinds for the new windows. I like to tinker with things but my experience was (with the cost of the lift tape) this repair is not worth the cost nor time involved. I am still confused how the 60" blind could be short when I cut the lift tape to at least 72". My wife laughed at me saying I told you to just buy new blinds! She's right but I couldn't buy the new units until I know the exact inside dimensions of my new window casings. Your videos were well done and very helpful with the steps. Do you recommend a brand other than Levolor? I like the cordless blind but would like it to be less prone to breakage.

Please see my comment in PART 1 for a way to do the final assembly using the washers that came with the original shade. It is impossible to tie the tape to them doing it as shown in this video, where he uses a 3rd party part instead of the washers.

Great video. I happen to have one with the motor at the bottom with a push button. Took it apart without marking it. 🤦🏻♀️

Great video, easy to follow. completed the repair and it appears the motor is bad. Shade falls down but will not retract to the up position. Where can i get a replacement motor? Shade is by Levolor and 48 " wide by 68" tall, outside mount. Thanks.

Ok, after winding the springs where the does the string go? If you just leave it hang out the side and put the plastic guide back on it restricts the movement of the string s completely.

not sure if you are still looking at comments, but, any video or suggestions for the levolor cordless top down bottom up restring? it has 2 sets of springs on each end. Thanks!

I have the same kind of blind and also found this video in desperation. There are two sets of motor assemblies. I notice the end guides on the assembly has a second guide insert on the outside edge, so I feel like for the "inside" facing side of the motor you're supposed to cross the flat tape past the opposite assembly and feed through the other end. This would be why the motor assemblies have two sides for holding the tape feed - one assembly uses the 'upper" feed, and the other assembly uses the "lower" feed, so they don't tangle. The end result being the flat tape is crisscrossed in the top casing with the two motor assemblies. But I imagine this requires different length measurements and a more complicated re-taping. Sadly this video doesn't cover this so I'll have to have a pro fix it.

How do you estimate the right length of flat cord
@olsoncarlton10 жыл бұрын
Thank you for doing this video. I will email you about how I can order the flat line and how you determine the length. My unit is 92 inches wide and that means I have double the amount to do.

I am disappointed the you have skipped over the part of how to retension these blinds, it is not in part one nor in this part???
