Do you have to use a stapler? Can you undo a part of the seam, put the stuffing in and resew the seam?

Why wouldn't you just sew the cushion closed, rather than using the staples. I would be afraid the staples would pick through the upholstery fabric in time.

The ends of the staples get folded over. That's how a stapler works... And this is a common upholsterer's technique.

@@CM-xr9oq Maybe so...but a whip stitch with button hole thread is pretty speedy. Seems less risk to fabric and people.

I don't think that cover is actually cheese cloth which has a much looser weave. It looks more like non-woven sew in interfacing.

That's not the right way to fill a back cushion. It is very lumpy and seems uncomfortable.
