You’ve probably heard about the FIRE movement: Financial Independence Retire Early.
It’s a community of people who live super frugally in order to save up for retirement and retire early (usually within 10 years).
Here’s my problem with FIRE... Why put off doing what you REALLY want to do for 10 years from now when you can do what you love today?
In this video I share a plan to “retire” not in 10 years but in 12 months :)

I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.

The real reason retirement came on the scene is when you get older, you simply cannot do as much as when you are younger... the younger generations sort of eat you alive. If you have kids or elderly parents to take care of, this will also add to your load making it difficult to start/run a business as you could in your 20's & 30's. So, you really don't want to waste your 20's partying and all that stuff. Save that for later when you can afford it lol

Hi Noah, my retirement dream is not to worry about money, have location freedom (not to be locked in one place), and have time freedom. Once I achieve that, then I can spend the rest of my life trying and experimenting with stuff I like to do and help others, whether as hoppy or as a business.

I am on my first year working towards becoming financially independent. The best trick I found to reducing expenses is to find cheaper replacements for the same things you enjoyed before. For example instead of going out to eat or buying pre-made food, we found it to be so much cheaper to cook everything from scratch and to make multiple portions for later. I have not only cut down the cost of groceries but I also am eating better and have more energy doing so!

When no one is looking I build business plans...I just spent the last week doing that, almost done. I just need to do a bit more reasearch. But I guess what I like doing is putting pieces on a field and moving them around to make the pieces work efficently with eachother and any other pieces they may encounter. Connecting with other people who do the same thing and planning out ways for nodes of pieces to mesh. I don't know what I would call that. But it's fun. Finding problems to solve, and finding problems in solutions to solve.

To live that way isn't as expensive as you think, and it is attainable. I have one year of steps completed towards that goal, and hopefully will attain my goal of independent wealth by the end of next year. You never stop inspiring me and are a treasure trove of ideas and guidance. Thanks Noah.

Great video, Noah. I left a software job with a good salary in SF to move back to TX and be with family. Definitely more fulfilling. Noah - you gotta do a few videos where you take into consideration people who already have kids. IMO if a person has any sort of skills and motivation, they have a lot of flexibility and can basically do whatever they want in life...before having children (one problem could be too many choices actually).

The funny thing about your channel: If I just look at the topics, titles, thumbnails of your videos, a lot looks like the same BS so many financial freedom hustlers are trying to sell. When I actually watch your videos, you are way more realistic and down to earth. You are super likable and I appreciate your no-nonsense mindset. I don’t know if it helps or harms your channel that your videos so often look like all the clickbait content here on YT and elsewhere. 🤔 Just a thought.

My idea of Retirement: To already have the money reserve to technically be able to live for the rest of my life joyfully and comfortably without having to make another dime. Freeing me up to still do the things that I love which some will still make me more money and some wont. Just being able to do what I love and feel like without the constraints to have to make money for living/bill purposes! 💙🤲🏾😁

Awesome video. I want to live a life where I'm free to travel as I please, and do things that I feel really make a difference like making cities healthier and more efficient like with urban design and infrastructure. I'd also like to help people live healthier lives like a nutrition or fitness coach. Still trying to figure out the best way to get started in either of those industries while still being able to make an income. Also, I started looking at my bank account every day...and feel more depressed every time I see it. 🙃😓

If you have millions left over when you die that means you can give your descendants the gift of freedom. Look at companies such as Snapchat, tinder, bumble etc.. - the founders had financial freedom from their multi million dollar trust funds so they could pursue startup ideas full-time without worrying about paying the bills.

Ahh, the old chicken and the egg predicament...what do I want to....it's impossible to really know what you want until you have it! The cure is to talk to people who do what you think you want to do about how they got there because it's the early days that are the toughest when you're 'cleaning dishes and shoveling shit' or the equivalent. I'm a professional actor and you have to shovel a lot of shit to get to the pro level....especially if you are not naturally gifted (me) but ultimately you can do anything you want if you put in the shit shoveling but also be prepared to find out that even at the top it can feel like you are shoveling shit...it's just that the shit is flecked with gold...moral of the story, just commit and go for it because you'll never know until you get there and indecision is a worse prison than a dead end job.

OK, now I've realised I have already retired, I'm just missing a monthly pension - which kinda sucks. I have a lot of freedom to do stuff, but I'm missing the income. I am watching a lot of folks how do they did it, trying to crack the code, but at the end I'm just staying there not understanding the real deal behind. Perheps our realities are not intersecting, and I live in a whole different world, with different definitions.
