How To RETUNE A SAMSUNG TV

This video shows you how to re-tune a Samsung TV using the auto-tune function.
The method shown is for tuning in TV aerial signals for Freeview but the same technqiue can be used for tuning in Freesat TV's and services like Soarview in Ireland.

It's annoying when things like that happen. Quickest way out of the situation would be to fit a Smart TV stick of some sorts and use that for your on demand content.

I was trying to tune a Samsung ex hospitality TV. After unlocking the TV started the process like in your video and not a single channel comes up. When turning the TV on, it says poor areal or cable connection. Put back the old TV, woks fine. Any ideas or suggestions?

Just bought a Samsung TU7100 and it works fine but the autotune locks onto a transmitter (Belmont) which is further away than my local one at Waltham and thus I don't get news/weather local to me. Trouble is, when retuning it doesn't give me the option to select a different region. Bah.

Samsung TV sold in Asia (MADE IN MALAYSIA), also have Country settings: Asia/West Europe, America, Indonesia/New Zealand, China, Hong Kong/UK, as of manial tune analog tv channels after choose a TV frequency on each countries that match, select the channel frequncy, colour system: AUTO, PAL, SECAM, NTSC and NTSC 4.43. TV SYSTEM: M, B/G, I and D/K. Only analog tuner with 2 HDMI inputs, but no digital tuner (ISDB-T, DVB-T, etc..)

On my TV, as it scans for channels, it used to indicate the channel that it is checking and if a signal is detected the channel number turns orange and then it moves on to the next channel. But after a firmware update the indication of which channel it is looking at is all messed up. For instance, it may find the one analog channel that I pick up in my area, which is channel 22 , but be indicating that it is looking at channel 19 at the time. I thought updates were to improve the system, not make it worse.

Hi. What TV source are you on on the TV that is greying out the screen? On some TV's in you are on HDMI1 or AV1 for example it won't let you into the tuning menu until you go back to TV.

Unplug the aerial and run a scan. This should delete everything. Or factory reset/ return to shipping condition this will reset the TV back to when it came out of the box.

Could be a signal issue. First thing that I would try would be to factory reset the TV back to shipping condition. You may need to check the TV manual or e-manual to show you how to do this and then try re-tuning from scratch. Hopefully that will work, if not you could try manually tuning the TV but this is a bit more difficult.

Sorry I don't actually know off the top of my head. I will try when I get home. In the meantime you could try disconnecting the aerial from the TV. Running an auto-scan and then saving. This should delete everything on there. Then re-connect the aerial and run a auto-scan again. Hopefully this will bring the services back in for you.

They should just organise themselves onto the correct channels. If they haven't you may have a problem with your TV aerial.

Couple of things spring to mind to try. 1 - Make sure that you're on the correct TV input/ source. 2 - You might need to go into a digital TV menu to be able to tune. There may be a 'D Menu' button on your handset or there may be a 'Digital Set Up' within the settings menu. Sorry lots of TV's work different. I hope this helps. Tom

Was it working before? I would check to make sure that there isn't a short on the F plug. This is where the braid touches the centre conductor on the coax cable.

in US digital atsc tv tuners IN ALL CURRENT MODELS of SAMSUNG and every other manufacturer that I could find regardless of screen size or resolution 720p to 4K++ DO NOT allow for re-scanning of over the air channels WITHOUT DELETING previously found channels - meaning if you scan and find channels than move/rotate the antenna to different azimuth to receive/program/memorize more/different channels and re-scan you lose the results of the first scan with original antenna azimuth and so on. This makes all ALL every one of currently sold TVs U S E L E S S . Samsung doesn't care, none of the other tv makers care, nobody cares. and most people don't even know what they're missing and are stupified by this rant. congratulations 2019 society . that's where we are. Enjoy ! call your tv maker and demand an ADD-ON dtv scan !!! - you'll get some moron who doesn't speak English and has no clue what a directional antenna is.
