Thank you so much for explaining your process! So many KZbinrs post “how-to” where it’s just a video with no explanations.

Fantastic! Right on time. I've just started dismantling an armchair with similar arm panels in the front and this is going to come in very handy. This chair (I have two w/ matching ottomans) has the same type of arm panel on the back, slightly wider than the front but angled back and also rimmed with piping that has me perplexed how to tackle as I don't know how to do both the front and back panels simultaneously (I'd like to keep the piping and not do gathers). I told you about this set in a previous video (if you recall, I mentioned how the construction was very odd, with the arms built and upholstered separately from the back/seat then bolted together) and you invited me to email you about them. I'm taking photos as I dismantle them to share with you. You do such good work and watching you is not only instructional but FUN. You have such a charming sense of humor!

Bloomies! I am excited for the new video. Love the varying chairs because I am going to use a very different back and seat in a used whiskey barrel. These techniques are great. And thank you for naming the tools and materials you use. I am able to find them and order ahead of my first project. Thanks!!

Excellent work as usual, thanks for sharing. I have a question about foam bounce back, I made my own seat cushion copying one of your great videos and the foam I used is 3" green medium density but after sitting and then getting up, the foam doesn't seem to bounce back all that quickly and leaves an in print for a while. I did not use Dacron, do you have any advice please. Many thanks
@faceliftinteriors
@faceliftinteriors 3 ай бұрын
Always use dacron on foam cushions. If the cushion is 25"x25" you would need to use foam that is 26" x 26". If the border is 5" then order the foam border the same. Then I always finish with dacron, generally 14oz on either side of the cushion. Hope this helps 🙏 ☺️

Morning Neil, Im paying loads of money for an AMUSF course and honestly im learning more from you. Im about to tackle arms and build up the foam from a bare frame. should the arms be slightly sloping towards the back or are they completely horizontal?

what is the purpose of the collars on the inside back?
@faceliftinteriors
@faceliftinteriors 5 ай бұрын
Gives you something to pull on to fix the back, also allows you to follow curves without puckering etc. 👍⛏️🧵📎📐✂️

Yes, the video was definately useful! Have a couple of questions if you don't mind... avid follower! I noticed you don't iron stitched seams, is it not necessary...as opposed to sewing garments? Also, I noticed the fabric you used in this video had some sort of backing! Do you recommend a 'backed' fabric when upholstering a sofa or chair? Is a backed fabric better? Lastly, what sewing machine stitch length do you recommend for upholstery seams on a sofa?
@faceliftinteriors
@faceliftinteriors 5 ай бұрын
Hiya Maria. No don't iron the Seams, you shouldn't really need to. The only time I iron is when we have to copy an old template and we need to flatten it out. Most of the fabrics we use are Fire retardant treated and it makes them very durable and strong so yes I would always recommend using Fr treated fabrics when doing upholstery. If the fabric can't be treated then its important to use an Fr Interliner. Stitch size I normally go about 6mm when sewing up parts. But if I'm sewing up piping Cord you could go 8mm. Hope that helps 👍🙏📐📎🧵⛏️✂️

I once had a colleague who found about £1000 in cash. I have found wedding rings and a few bits of jewellery. It's normally peanuts, hair clips, pens and finger nails. Oh yes I also once found a dead mouse 🐁!!!🤢🧵✂️📐📎🙏
