This is just a taste of something that many truck drivers do everyday.
Im just hoping to share a bit of something i love doing with people that may have never seen it before.
Please feel free to ask questions.
(Sorry for the quality, im still learning)
A bit about me: Im an aussie truckie that enjoys his work.
I really enjoy driving road trains and other combinations like this B double (or B train as some would call it)
This is my first video (of many more to come when i get around to editing).
More soon!

I wonder would it be feasible for one or more of the joints to be lockable, to make reversing easier?
@SternDrive
@SternDrive 25 күн бұрын
@@Hakucho64 Nope. You do not want to lock these joints. If you did it would make a Super B impossible to back. They sometimes do this with A Trains, but that is a whole different story.

Some of these delivery locations are just shameful. I saw a video of a B train being delivered to a place a flatbed was having slight trouble getting into. Fine for the veteran, but the veteran had a day 1 too. Good fortunes to you

Many places are not designed to take such large trucks. Eg this one 😅 My B double only just fits exactly in that spot by chance (in that I don’t need to load half at a time where it is) Fortunately they can get to both sides by using the shed as a thoroughfare. But these places are not really to big an issue for experienced drivers. I personally like going to them (because i love a challenge).

I drive Super B Trains in Canada. I have no trouble backing them. However there are lots of people who have difficulty backing their car. On the other video you have at this same location, you sped it up a bit, and a few ignorant people said this was impossible. It was Edited, and two people said that it was AI. Just look at the shadow they said. You know these skeptics can't back their car. So funny!

For any sites I go to that I have to reverse into from the street, I always go in and ask for someone to block traffic for me as it's a lot safer for me and the oncoming traffic. A majority of sites also have stop/slow lollipop sticks just for this reason too, and are more than happy to help you to make things safer for everyone involved.

A B-Train is basically a truck and dog trailer on steroids. Two pivot points, so, if you can back a dog, you can back a B-Train. Granted, it is slightly different, due to using the A trailer as the drawbar and dolly, but, in principle, it is still the same.
@Als.Trucks

In Australia it’s illegal to back into or out of any premises in a heavy vehicle. But generally it’s acceptable practice amongst drivers of heavy rigids and single trailers to just do it anyway to get the job done. Usually backing in and driving out. A B double however is a fairly big no no!
@Als.Trucks
@Als.Trucks Жыл бұрын
It’s not illegal in most states of Australia. There is no direct law against it in WA. (As per section 269 of the ARR) It is only illegal if deemed to be done in an unsafe manner. So it’s quite open ended and open to interpretation. Thats why you will see trucks backing in and out of driveways (like me here) every day with out issue from the police.

@@Als.Trucks Yep, not legal in most of the rest of the country that's under the NHVR. Doesn't mean that many companies don't expect drivers to do it though. In SA it was part of the MC theory course for us to know that we weren't allowed to do it.

@Als.Trucks
@Als.Trucks Жыл бұрын
It’s a skill you have to learn after you get your license. Generally you learn by looking like a complete goose backing up in private yards etc for a while until you work out whats going on 😂 For me I learned to back by trial of fire. I was assigned to do 4 b double loads like this into a Distribution centre for 2 weeks. That DC was usually only getting single trailer deliveries and the dock they assigned to me every time was the hardest one and also directly outside the driver waiting room. So i got to look like a peanut and put on a real show while trying to reverse onto the dock. Made me learn fast though 😂

Imo, the receiving company should be obliged to provide spotters or traffic control. You can always refuse to dock until they do. I reckon the police would agree, after all it's your liability if you hit someone OR SOMEONE HITS YOU.
@Als.Trucks
@Als.Trucks 6 ай бұрын
Different countries different rules. Also varies by state. This is a perfectly legal manoeuvre here and people here are self aware enough to know that hitting me doesn’t equal a win for them. I take a spotter where needed, but don’t demand one unless it is absolutely necessary. This is a small country town industrial area, everyone is use to it.
