See my latest hydro generator build / Full installation here - • Free power from water
A detailed step by step guide showing the entire process of rewiring the kelvinator F&P (kelvinator) smartdrive washing machine motor stator to produce free electricity for off-the-grid living. Suitable for most 12 - 30 volt applications. Once rewired, all you need is a way to spin the motor to produce enough power to run the average energy efficient home or supplement a solar powered home. Attach it to a windmill, hydro turbine, water wheel, biogas engine or even a bicycle. The power from the motor will charge a battery bank connected to a 120v or 240v dc-ac inverter to run ordinary household appliances, lights, heating etc. Follow this link to see how to make a water powered generator using this motor • Free power- How to con... This has been powering my house for over 2 years & is still running as strong as the day I built it.

Tip from an long time certified solderer - always run the iron across a wet sponge to remove excess (it has lost its flux and is now more of a drossy burden when using with flux cored solder), next _always_ heat the work first, before touching the solder to it or you burn the flux up too fast and it can lead to connection stability problems. Then introduce solder to the work, not the iron - it should flow freely like a tight skin hugging the metal (the sign of a good melt) and cool shiny (which is a good join, as opposed to dull which is a cold solder joint). This should all happen quickly so as not to overheat the work and once the solder sticks don't linger with their on or you lose the antioxidizing effects of the flux. If you get a situation where the solder is heading but not sticking either apply flux paste sparingly or flood the area with solder to coax new flux on to it then tap the area quickly to remove excess (if it didn't drop off on its own) or sponge it off immediately after removing the iron (you just want to get rid of the excess solder without lingering. Lingering oxidizes the underlying metal and solder starts to flip as it contains dross now and nothing wants to stick. I've personally taken to just sticking a q-tip in paste flux (I prefer rosin as it is only acidic when hot and won't degrade wire when below soldering temps) and dab everything for jobs this size and larger (size as in wire that's this heavy). Anyway, nice job - I know nothing about these alternators and am trying to learn. This was very helpful, thanks!d

"Then introduce solder to the work, not the iron" yes, but. This is also the right moment to put a little(!) bit of solder to the iron so it will make a solid thermal connection to the work. Just lightly touching the iron's tip while moving the solder to the work works fine. Another thing to watch is that you want the work to wick up the solder, not press a blob of solder onto it. When working on clean electronics with a low thermal mass and a good iron, one can do this directly from the tip, but one needs to keep in mind that this is a special case, not the norm.

hi ! Love the concept and everything. If you want your tin to stick to the copper. You have to clean it up with a chemical product (plumber product) 1 apply product on the area. 2 Heat it up 3 remove heat source 4 apply tin. That's how a plumber do, by the book. About that there is 2 types (or more) tin. take the one without lead. That's the one allowed in drinkable water. You might end up in trouble if you don't. lead path : tin => water => fish => humans => hospital Just thinking to this. An old plumber I had as a teacher told me that water looses speed when it turns. Even into a pipe. Therefore you might have a better output because you have two 90° angles. (if I remember correctly) Once again I'm just triing to help.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I don't know much about electricity but after watching this 3 times and reading some of the comments I am considering having a go - but using wind to turn the stater. I followed up and watched the other video regarding the water wheel and inverter and such. Wish I could get my hands on all the other stuff for free so I could go ahead with the build. Cheers.

Free power does not mean perpetual motion or zero point energy. Free power can be achieved if you convert motive force (wind, water, etc.) into electrical energy. It's power that you don't have to pay for. My latest idea is a fooled-rabbit free power generator using a team of rabbits, a carrot on a piece of string, and a washing machine tub!

If your soldering with a tip with enough thermal mass and the soldering iron is over 30W, it should burn right through the enamel. I solder magnet wire all the time without removing the enamel first. The issues he's running into in the video is his tip has practically no thermal mass; his solder seems to have too low of a flux ratio; and he is feeding the solder onto the iron, not the wires, which is burning off most of what little flux there is before it can help mate the solder to the copper.

Also, would you need a magnet over each coil? and yes im a newbie but not an idiot...

@angry ram i have a free flowing artesian well in my yard....and an old whirlpool washing machine. can you tell me, i'm ignorant to all this, what your gpm rate is for your setup? i haven't checked mine yet but it isn't near the pressure you were able to gather. thanks.

Not creeps, just educated. No such thing as free energy yet they insist on posting titles like this. I use a hydroelctrostatic generator as well, but the potential and mechanical advantages come from the water..NOT free out of thin air, and NO it's not perpetual. Just be articulate and concise where its needed, that's all us 'creeps' ask

If you are willing to spend on the extra components a dc/dc converter can be used to charge your battery. Set it up just like any commercial/industrial UPS system your low voltage AC (400v is low voltage) through a rectifier block, DC/DC converter block converts that DC to your charging DC for your battery bank, and out through the inverter block and through a capacitor bank that brings your power factor back closer to 1 and further cleans up your output. RVs already have pretty much all the power conversion components you need. Then you don't need to give up so much of the power this generates and you don't have to spend all that time rewiring it. More than one way to skin a cat, it all depend on you and the cat which one is right for you.

Very good proposal! Also this way power loss in cables can be minized if batteries are some distance apart from the generator.

Maybe is it simpler way to let coils in serial junction but use the DC-DC converter after generating or even use of 3 phase transformer ?
@calholli

what is the difference in output??? why go from series to parallel??? what are the numbers... what voltages? amps?... before and after.... what are you using it for.. you have to finish the story here... what is the point that you are trying to show us

calholli The reason for rewiring is to raise the amps & reduce voltage to make it more suitable for charging a battery bank. Before rewiring the stator produces 400+ volts. I use the stator on my hydro generator - kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZprId41_aZJpgZo

A bit of physics please. If using wind power, does the voltage or current increase with rotational speed?? In a low wind area and commercial wind power generators need high speed.

It looks like there is a bit of insanity here, the original DC motor windings and power scheme required three contacts. What we want is to turn this simple brushless motor into a DC generator with two contacts, one positive and one negative. This wiring scheme leaves 1/3 of the poles connected to the third lug that is unused. Seems like something is missing in this theory. Each pole coil should attach to the next coil past it's neighboring coil, in turn around the circuit making only two circuits instead of three for the attachment points.

It is 3 phase AC output not DC, output is fed via 3 wires into a 3 phase rectifier which converts it to DC

Angry Ram, the Awesome Man! I am eager to make my own wind turbine but have two questions: 1) There appear to be 3 poles. If this makes 3-phase and I want just 2-phase will I be need to wire differently? 2) I have only 36 coils on my stator, not 42 as in the video. I assume the wiring is the same, just stop 6 coils earlier, right? Thanks for anyone who can enlighten me--I'm at the starting gate, YOU are the staring gun. I have an identical stator except it has 36 poles instead of 42. If i follow the diagram correctly mine appears to be Factory wired at 36 pole 1x12c. My question is; If I rewire mine to 36 pole 6x2c, At the same RPMs would I get less Volts or less Amps than yours (42 Pole 7x2c)?

Woudn't be better to do phase 1 then 3 and then 2? So the 1 and 3 would be better separated and then last 2 would be easy to isolate from the 3 because it's on the top?
