instead of changing the colors directly (since they're supposed to be different shades of grey and cyan, and they're named as such), it's better to make a new variable and call it for example col_purple[], and set that to the rgb color code for purple. then below, in SchemeNorm and SchemeSel you can change the colors to your new color (for example, to make your borders purple and easier to see, you can change SchemeSel's col_cyan under border to col_purple). hope that made sense.

I might still make a video about void, but you must know that Void is not more minimal than Gentoo, I don't think its possible for any binary distro to be. Void is more minimal than Arch since it doesn't use systemd, but I still don't recommend Void to most people due to its lack of packages, and the fact that its primary developer recently quit working on it.

It wouldn't unless the syntax is wrong and there will be a compiler warning as "Warning: Unused Variable at line:char" and it won't take any effects until you define it's semantics in the code

Hey my laptop sucks and I won't buy a new one just to browse the net, can you tell me in a non meme way if trying to minimise my resource usage with gentoo (is it even the best choice for this idk, never used) and dwm even worth it? We are talking about numbers like cutting 200 or 300 ram on my 4gb laptop, would it *actually* make my browser work faster or only look cool on screenshots? I'm worried I'll do all the memes just to feel no difference, the only time I'm feeling any slowdowns is with browsers, really doubt going from 400ram idle to sub 100 will do much to fix it.

If the browser is what's slow then I would look into fixing that before doing something like changing OS's. Try to minimize the amount of javascript that runs on pages, use a less bloated browser if you can get away with it.

Someone forked dwm and made a custom compositor for it along with many other changes, called it instantwm. I found out by it via unixporn. Very beautiful wm. It's new, I image it's gonna eventually go down the configuration file route. But for now it's still like dwm where you edit the source code. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmbSeYaqe7SFpLs Was curious if you had seen it, cause this is pretty impressive imo. Especially since his compositor apparently eats little resources compared to picom/compton from what I understand.

Do you know about a scrip called archfi? It is used to install arch linux in an easier way for those of us who can't figure it out or too lazy to do it. Are you able to make one for gentoo? I don't think I can ever be able to install gentoo on my laptop and I'm dying to try it. I have tried sabayon (or whatever it is called) but didn't like it. I want pure gentoo.

I installed fontawesome, but it doesn't work. Any idea what I'm missing? I'm on gentoo of course. edit: fc-match awesome prints "DejaVuSans.ttf: "DejaVu Sans" "Book" so fontconfig think fontawesome is DejaVuSans. I have no earthly clue how to fix this, any help would be greatly appreicated.

@@zlrivo I unfortunately still don't have the answer to this. I spent a long time on forums and came up empty. Fonts are easily the most confusing thing (imo) on Linux. I can't seem to figure out how they work.

If you meant compiling your own kernel, that is relatively simple, you can find instructiona for that in your distro's wiki.
