In Florida it rains all the time. Having 3 wheels stability makes riding in the rain 🌧️ less worrisome. People see the sidecar outfit more than they see a normal motorcycle. I always ride slow, enjoying the scenery, being retired l have all the time in the world 🌎.

I have had my Sportster for 25 years and 400,000 miles on the original engine and 37 back tires and 17 front ones and 3 belts in 25 years. I also have a URAL side car outfit for 5 years now that is 25 years old. Same year as my 1999 Sportster. I have had my Sportster for 25 years and 400,000 miles on the original engine and 37 back tires and 17 front ones and 3 belts in 25 years. Love both of them. Both are not fast but they sure are fun 😊.

You need to hang off the bike when turning at road speeds. You hang off to the inside of the bike, so right side when turning right, left side when turning left. Move those hips! The Yellow Book, the manual for riding a sidecar, is a great source of tips and techniques.- As Ural rider of about 75,000 klicks, I love to say “once you go hack, you’ll never go back.” 😃

Thank you so much for this video. I’m looking to put a sidecar on my Sportster. And explaining the concept to my wife has been hard. But you’ve broken it down very well. I would love to see more of the shackles and linkages, but still thanks for making this video.

Excellent video, but I have to disagree with you on one point. Even with a sidecar, you DO have to lean towards your turn on anything faster than a parking lot. Before I got my rig (hack), I did a huge amount of homework to find the one best suited for my riding. A HUGE requirement for me was a rig that could maintain a safe line of travel under hard braking situations (few and far between, but they DO happen). Geometry under hard braking with a sidecar rig (especially with a passenger or gear in the sidecar) changes dramatically, and not in a good way! I chose the 2 Wheel Drive Ural Gear Up for its THREE Brembo disc brakes, and Leading Link (Earl’s Fork) front suspension that prevents the front end from diving under heavy braking. My rig is NOT a good high-speed highway machine, because I hate highways! 🤬 “We may not go fast, but we can go Anywhere.” It’s my lifetime favorite motorcycle.

When you are a beginner needs ballest in the chair to hold it down. Some HD riding academy have a side car or trike classes.

Bonjour, Tous les side-cars se comportent ils de la même manière ou y a t'il des modèles plus faciles que d'autres quand on veut commencer ?🤔 Thank you for your answer 🙂✌️
