Hi Amelia, do you have any advice on the best way to teach a green horse how to canter? My 4yo has no problem getting the left lead, but can't seem to get the right lead. He also tries to anticipate that I am going to ask him to canter and he tries to rush on after I bring him back to trot while practicing trot to canter transitions. Best suggestion for correcting this without upsetting him?

JM 824 I have a green mare and she had the same problems. For teaching the transitions if the horse isn’t worried about a whip carry a whip and ask with the leg and then reinforce with a little tap on the bum:) after you bring them back to trot half right away and then continue on in trot, if they tend to rush do a lot of downward transitions and circles

Many tests have been altered in many ways. The counter-canter half circles are no longer in 4-3 either.
