How To Ride The Leg Yield

In this video we are looking at how to do leg yielding exercises with your horse including leg yield head to the wall and leg yield on a diagonal.
There are some salient points to read but mainly the narration talks about the aids to use for leg yield, the aims and benefits of the exercises and how common problems are created and how to rectify them.
We also look at how this initially teaches the horse to go sideways from the leg aids and how this links to teaching the horse lateral exercises later.

Excellent explanation. THere are differences of opinion in the position of the rider‘s inside leg, which moves the horse sideways, with some books and Instructors saying on the girth and some behind. Your explanation really clarifies this.

Hi, It's really help to clear my doubt. But still I'm not clear, steps : Light flexion neck straight, inside leg on near to girth, What should I have to do outside leg Is that I have to keep it back of the girth and guarding him to be in a straight line

Brilliant video, really love how you explained the leg yield as I am not the most natural riders. Just wondered am currently trying to get my horse to leg yield and he’s finding it confusing he’s stepping his hind legs on one track not fully crossing them over, is that ok to begin with? Thanks
