Lesson 4. Mark had me trying this today I frustratingly just ended up going off on a diagonal mostly. I know it's not the horse. Oliver is smart. I'm just not giving him clear signals... I'll look at your videos :)

How are you using your inside leg though? Are you applying constant pressure at the girth until you've completed the leg yield? Are you doing little taps/kicks?
@AmeliaNewcombDressage Жыл бұрын
It is applied and released and applied again when more is required. An aid should never be constant on...

I actually taught my morgan bareback and it worked better than under saddle! I’m no professional haha but it worked way better for me!

do you keep your outside leg on the horse the whole time or do you push pulse-like with each step over. Do you keep your wight centred in the saddle. thx

I still have alot to learn as a rider and is working on riding my horse so that she is relaxed and not tense. If I can get that right my trainer wants me to continue to ride circles so that the legs can cross but that is for later so I am just doing bending. With this I hope I can ride het better and understand so that she is comfortable

I too would like to know if it’s a constant pressure or tap and which is “inside” and “outside”? I thought outside leg makes him move away from that leg but when you’re doing it you’re saying inside leg.. which leg are you using when you’re moving to the right?

Amelia, thank you for sharing this. My question is when leg yielding does your leg come back behind the girth, and does it stay on the entire time you are doing the leg yield? Or does your leg stay on the girth? Thanks.
@AmeliaNewcombDressage5 жыл бұрын
In the leg yield the leg should be at the girth.

@@AmeliaNewcombDressage I have another question - should the leg be pulsing? Or should I put it once and then keep it there till the end of this exercise?
@joanneralph20974 жыл бұрын
Amelia Newcomb Dressage in your video, its looks like your leg is coming back behind the girth!! So the horse moves away from this leg. I have the problem that I have several instructors : one says the inside leg stays on the girth and the others all say it comes behind the girth, to move away from this inside leg!! Help!!

Hi, Izzy and I have been practicing the leg yield. Iz is great in one direction , but in the other I struggle to get her to move laterally. Is it time to add Spurs?
@AmeliaNewcombDressage3 жыл бұрын
Hey Laura! Have a look at this video! It might help with the one-sidedness. All horses (and people! ) have a better side and it can definitely be counteracted with the right exercise format!

Great video! Question... my mare leg yields nicely off my left leg but when I ask her to yield off my right leg, she speeds up... A LOT! I can't figure out why and I am only doing it at the walk. Any ideas?
