Check out Dolphin Gitzem Jig Heads! Anything similar will work, and make sure there is a barb or ribs on the lead head to secure the squid on to it!

Thanks! How heavy a leadhead do you recommend?
@bdoutdoorsdotcom-m4p2 жыл бұрын
No problem! It's really dependent on how hard the current is ripping. With really light current you'll likely be fishing a much lighter leadhead maybe 1/4oz or 1/2oz and with a very strong current you'll be fishing at least 1oz, most likely heavier. It's smart to have a variety of sizes before heading out!

Do you cast it out or just let it drift away from the boat into the kelp?
@bdoutdoorsdotcom-m4p2 жыл бұрын
Good question. It depends which scenario you are fishing it in i.e. squidbed or kelpline. If you're anchored upcurrent of the kelp you're fishing, you'll want to cast it out and actively fish it throughout the water column around the leading edge of the kelp line. It certainly can be a very involved technique.

Thanks for the info! Do you recommend any particular lead heads?
@bdoutdoorsdotcom-m4p2 жыл бұрын
Appreciate that! Any of your local tackle shops should be able to help you out with selection, but generally you will want to make sure that you get a lead head that incorporates some sort of bait keeper barb or ribs to assist in keeping the squid in place...and glow is certainly a nice addition, especially when fishing in low light/dark. Always good to have a variety of sizes since you can never be certain how large or small the bait will be. Thanks for watching!

Bannana style leadhead. 1/4 oz or heavier, depending on depth, current. Definitely don’t let it lay on the bottom.

What leadhead would you recommend for fishing for White Sea bass off the coast of Santa Rosa ??
@bdoutdoorsdotcom-m4p Жыл бұрын
Depending on current, it can range from 1/4- 1/2oz for strong current. However, with less current you're probably looking at 1oz and up.

I believe that's a 6/0 or 7/0, but would recommend anything 5/0 to 7/0.
