Thanks Devin, for your information. I just started my Fly Fishing experience one season ago. Last week I caught about 50 Trout in a heavily pressured location in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, over the weekend. Your videos helped me so much! I literally only fished 3 patterns (Lite bright, Walt's, Quilldigone) and a blow Torch variant (no hackle). Sizes were mostly #16-18 and mostly 6x & 7x. I was a spin caster for over 50 years but loving the fly now.

*I bought these and used them at the river where I get snags often they have done a **enjoyable.fishing** recommend great job of not breaking along with some strong line I purchased as well. They are super durable and easy to use.*

How much backing do you use?

Great information but the visual aids didn't quite make it. I'm a visual learner. I couldn't really see what you were talking about. If I try to hook the rig up to regular, floating, weight forward line, I'm guessing, my line will all slide down the rod toward me in a sagging heap. So, without buying new fly line, can I do this?

Can use floating line but keep it in the spool. Have a good 15’ or more of just the leader setup he is describing. If a fish runs, let’m take the floating line outta spool. But for casting and line control, only leader in the eyes.

It's odd how nonchalant people are about clipping off their tippet and just let it fall to the ground or water. I see it the same as hunting, "police your brass". On average it takes over 500 years for that material to break down. "Leave no trace" is the best way to treat the great outdoors we all love to fish, hunt, hike in.

Sorry not real impressed with that leader, way to long, to much room between flies. I have gone the opposite direction, useing a 51/2 leader a barrel swivel, 24” to the first fly 12/16” to second fly depending on depth of water 8” of 7 x to split shot. Easy to handle and and cast .
