In this episode of ReelReports, we explain how to rig spinning outfits for drift fishing with live bait as we head offshore. Join us for the first time on our new 25' center console fishing boat rigged with a Mercury V8 300HP.
Catching bait was a bit tough, but we managed about a dozen and headed east in search of fish. Unfortunately, we didn't find much current and the bite was slow, but being on the blue water again felt great and we look forward to getting out there again REEL soon.

Great video Capt Mike. Hey, I’ve watched all of your videos, including the cast net instructional videos. I purchased a custom 8 ft net last year. As I get older I struggle with the heavier weight of the custom nets and lost balance in standing on the gunnels to get a better throw. I would appreciate a video for us older guys on throwing a heavier 8 ft net and clearing the gunnels throwing from the deck. And before I get flamed, I know an 8 ft net is considered small by many.

Get the top!. Your boat turned out awesome, missing the last piece. Many reasons for, just a few are summertime thunderstorms and scorching heat, in addition to having more storage up top and being able to hang your rigs on your spaghetti floats. Hi Mike! I wonder how using 20 pound test line works for you when offshore fishing... You said that this is your setup for Marlin too. Can you please explain? Isn't that too low especially for a 8500 Spinfisher whose max drag is 40 lbs? Thanks in advance :)

Keep it sporty and easier to cast at fish. Our average fish can vary between 5 and 40lbs or so.

Your new boat looks beautiful Capt Mike. But she does look lively in the water with little swell. Have you thought of adding more weight to the keel. Like 500 lbs. can make a huge difference with stability, also I like bilge keels. 👍
