Tip for those who wants to remove the black parts from textures where it should be transparent, as you can see in the trees and fences. - On Blender, select one of the triangles that has the specific texture applied; - Go to the Shading tab and look at the nodes on the bottom half of the screen; - Plug the "Alpha" on the image texture node to the "Alpha" on the material node; - On the material settings, scroll down until you see some options with "Opaque" selected. Change the top one to "Alpha Clip". The black parts will now be transparent; - Repeat the process for every texture with transparent parts. Note: when you export it to an engine, it will most likely be displayed without the transparency again. Each engine will have a different way of handling that. On Unreal Engine, for instance, you'll have to make it a masked material.

A note about textures: some models are converted some time during the original game's development from quads (4 vertices) to tri's (3 vertices) for optimization on the n64 hardware. for context of why this is an issue: textures back then were commonly 1/2 of some type of image or object, such as a pillar. in the stadiums of pokemon stadium, the textures are made to be laid out with quad faces, but are projected on tri faces and may have misaligned projected textures. misaligned textures can happen even on quad models, example: nidoking's stomach and mouth, sandshrew's face, etc. you can also see it in this video on the goombas. i'm not sure of the specifics of why this happens, but i think it has something to do with the original format the files are in. you'll have to do some manual UV editing, and worst case, edit parts of the model itself, such as rotating the face of the geometry of a wall instead of rotating the UV of that part of the model. in some instances, it may be easier to redo the entire model as close to 1-1 as possible via the shrinkwrap modifier or playing with materials and shaders to help 'layer' your model ontop the original. hope this helps!

can you do a video on how to rip the models , like mario and the bombs , i would like to 3d print characters adding more polygons so that the printer can print them .
@space_goat_v13377 ай бұрын
@4:42 instead of deleting all the extra assets to get the map, you can just delete the map parts and leave mario etc instead. the bob-ombs tho are technically 2d and always face the camera to give the illusion of 3d

im currently ripping body harvest but the textures are 2d squares looks horrible is there a way to extract just the vehicle models and textures only as map interferes with scaling in blender where it looks tiny
@space_goat_v13376 ай бұрын
@4:42 instead of deleting all the extra assets to get the map, you can just delete the map parts- maybe that will help just export the models so you can work with them without the level scaling
@lugiakane4706 ай бұрын
@@space_goat_v1337 problem with body harvest is it renders areas as you move and half incomplete could explain why map so big and hardware of the n64 was limiting i could you pictures if i could get hold of you to explain

How come after I apply the Nemu64 plugin in project 64 3.0 and then when I start Conker's Bad Fur Day it is mostly all black and most of the textures are missing and weird colors? Does this plugin just not work with Conkers Bad Fur Day?
@space_goat_v13378 ай бұрын
I'm not sure and all I can find online are other ppl having issues with textures in other emulators so maybe it's just something with the way Rare did theirs for that game idk. If you figure it out lmk

Nemu ripping in current year? i thought blender ppl used Fast64? The SM64 models on the models resource were ripped using a dae export version of Quad64 that dumps whole areas and their objects which you can find on the sm64 hacking resource document. TMR replaced the old nemu rips a couple years ago but they're still missing sub areas and level objects. Since Nemu is ripping what is rendered around the player including errors it's rather imprecise, which can be a nightmare for collision and texture mapping - the tri's misalign and refuse to turn back into polygons.
@space_goat_v13376 күн бұрын
Using {current year} on a 2 year old video? lol jk, this is just the way I learned to accomplish what I needed to rip a couple maps to use for mods in a VR game I was playing at the time. I'm sure there are a lot more efficient ways to go about this, but this is just the way I did it
