Another wonderful guide, of course! :) One other thing to note about becoming Worgen, being bitten or scratched isn't the only other way to have had become Worgen. You could've most certainly drank the blood of a Worgen to become one. Which opens possibilities to be a "former" human from any of the other kingdoms, including Stormwind. Now, however that came about could be for various reasons. For example, perhaps your character was in the same situation as those in Silverpine Forest. Your character could've been stationed to help the Gilnean Liberation Front, and got stuck in a situation where death was a possibility... So they'd rather be Worgen than Forsaken (Worgen can't be risen like Humans). With that, from what I could gather, if a character drank the blood of a Worgen that had gone through the "Ritual of Balance" it would seem they too would have the control that the ritual gave the one giving the blood. In turn, the character drinking the blood wouldn't have to under go through ritual... Or at least it wouldn't seem like the character would need to. To round this all up, it is a possibility to be cursed human from another kingdom other than Gilneas. Now, this isn't something that happens everday or something I necessarily encourage every future Worgen RP'er to have as backstory... But it is indeed very do-able.
@Edjedoe6667 жыл бұрын
Phillyourthirst yes. Take a look at worgen death knights for instance, they are not gilnean worgen at all. Most likely argul worgen. Or worgen from being bitten by an argul worgen. And when questing in silverpine forest as horde there's a quest line were you go to try to turn these 4 humans undead and Crowley is already their and they drink his blood becoming worgen. So your answer is yes.

I've got a Worgen Death Knight who I roleplay as a former Druid of the Scythe. I have Kalytha's Haunted Locket which I use for any time I need to be outside my Worgen form. I was released from the dream to fight off the Scourge. Yeah, we won, but I died and the Scourge dragged away my corpse to experiment with it. After that, the story's similar to other Death Knights. This became especially fun when I discovered my "grandkids" - two of which are Illidari, one of whom is another Death Knight (and a Blood Elf no less!), and most of which are Blood Elves. Good times...

Just started out with the WoW trial. It's so hard to get into the lore and such! (My goodness, so much lore) Anyways, I am very much into roleplay. The first race that immediately called to me was the Worgen race. It's just such a tragic story but at the same time, they sound very interesting to play. They're very flawed characters with lots of room for character growth (for example I'm planning to make my Worgen character deal with learning about the world outside Gilneas as he realizes Gilneas wasn't as perfect as he thought it was. At least once I know the lore well enough). I really like it.

I feel like Gilneans probably would have known what trolls were prior to the wall coming down... Like, at the very least, from legend (trolls wars, etc.). But also possibly from stories from the second war. Granted, most living Gilneans would have spent a large portion of their lives all shut up inside the city, etc. Your videos are awesome. Don't let my nitpicking belie that.

One question I kind of wonder about is how old Worgen characters are. The game tells us that the curse struck the country during the 3rd war, when the scourge was beating down the people of Lordearon. After that, you pretty much wake up moments before the cataclysm. So that's a whopping 13+ years as a worgen. If not more. Given that you're adult when the 3rd war is going on, this would mean that Gilnean characters could potentially be rather old?

Why not simply be a Gilnean who's gotten efficient at repressing his accent? Aura does talk about Patriotism, but there's of course going to be a few individual exceptions. This is assuming you want to be from Stormwind to avoid the accent though, (as a 20 year vacation would still leave you oblivious to the history that occurred while you were behind the wall.)
@ruecumbers8 жыл бұрын
In the current state of things, I imagine it might also be likely that you could seek out another Gilnean worgen and the night elves to willfully accept the curse and undergo the ritual too, as I think about it. I'd like Inquisitor Aura's wisdom on that to confirm, but don't immediately see why not.

Is a calm & gentle Worgen possible? I don't RP as it intimidates the hell out of me lol. I do like writing back-stories & characteristics however, for video game characters I grow attached to. I main a Worgen Hunter. I imagine him to be calm & gentle; for the most part anyway. The undead in all their forms would be a different matter. Has an explorative nature, due to being trapped in Gilneas all his life. Wonders from place to place, wanting to see all he can. This also allows him to hunt, which calms him. That's my justification anyway. So long as he has the ability to hunt he's calm & even gentle. I'm not a big fan of patriotism also. I like to imagine my Worgen resents his people a little for pretty much keeping him a prisoner & not allowing him to see the world. Though he still hates the undead for all they did to his people & given his way would see them all destroyed. Like the biggest trigger ever lol. What do you think; would this work? & thank you in advance if you read this.
@completelyconfuseddungeone50636 жыл бұрын
I don't know what others think, but I think that's a pretty solid character and backstory. I'm pretty certain, just like in our own country, the Gilneans would have some among them who very much opposed to the idea of being trapped behind a wall. What choice do they have, however, when the greater majority are scared out of their mind over what is happening in the world and want to feel safe again? And I think a calm, gentle personality would be very doable, especially if that was the sort of person he was before he was cursed. After all, he is still the same person. He's just had a slight change in lifestyle. That's just my two cents.

Could I be a duskwood nightbane worgen? The gilneans are there trying to cure them but their attempts have failed. I was thinking me character could be one whos mind was cured but not body leaving me in worgen form at all times. Im one of a few mildly cured but the potion that cured me doesnt work on all nightbane the way certain things effect people differently. I maintain my mind by being taken to darnasuss to under go a similar ritual. Or does this not work?
@InquisitorAura8 жыл бұрын
Sadly, this really doesn't work. You could absolutely be a Nightbane Worgen, but to have any semblance of self, you must undergo the ritual (or be a freed DK.) That being said, you don't have to shift into human form at all. You could also take the potion the Gilneans were using at first (prior to discovering the ritual) and just have that be a thing.

I'm watching and reading up on information for this, so I ask this in case its wrong or cringey but I was sort of thinking about forms of mental illnesses and of my own mental illness and how it could be afflicted by being a worgen, like say if I was to have an anxiety attack and it caused me to loose control and not freak out aggressively but it would force the change into a worgen would that be possible or not? I'm also adding the fact that if I were to be In said situation and that happened, I as a worgen would be able to feel the environment around me 10x than I would in human form either adding to the problem or actually helping. (Due to the sensitivity to the surroundings whilst emotionally compromised) please awnser in a critiqueing way as I'm trying to get a good grip on how to play further.

Thank you! =D The Worgen could have had contact with fel magic prior to their forced entrapment behind the Greymane Wall, or you could have just as easily picked it up after you rejoined the Alliance during the Cataclysm. when the orcs brought fel magic to Azeroth, there was bound to be a few scattered people who picked it up.

So I started playing WoW after watching a bunch of roleplay videos and decided to make a worgen. Never played a worgen before and I suddenly got that werewolf itch. I decided to go with a non-gilnean worgen from Duskwood. I'm kind of struggling with the timeline of the characters life though. I want the character to be a case where he was bitten very young. Like 6 or 7 years old or even younger and has been running around Duskwood for over a decade. (Literally raised by wolves) Duskwoods timeline is kind of the problem here though. According to everything I've found it seems that the worgen appeared in Duskwood 19ish?? years ago? I guess I just want to know how old my character would be and how old he would've been when he got bitten, but everything I find is either unofficial or just confusing. So I guess my questions are, at the current year on Azeroth, how long ago did the worgen appear in Duskwood?
@InquisitorAura7 жыл бұрын
I will look into this for you. The Worgen in Duskwood appeared about the same time as they did in Gilneas, only for different reasons-in Duskwood, they were called by the Scythe of Elunne, which was in the hands of a priestess at the time who was travelling to speak to Arugal. The only reason Duskwood wasn't overwhelmed was because of the shocking population of undead still there and the vigilance of the Night's Watch in the area.
@Rautakello7 жыл бұрын
I gathered as much. I pretty quickly found a WoW forum thread going over the timeline, but it was a bit confusing. If I understood correctly the timeline this follows starts with the first Horde invasion? Using this unofficial timeline: www.wowwiki.com/Timeline_(unofficial) Duskwood timeline thread I found: eu.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/9256825598 I'll qute the thread directly here: 1. Arugal summoned the worgen to defend the Gilneas Wall from the Scourge. The Scourge didn't even exist in the game lore until year 21-22 in the timeline, during WC3: The Frozen Throne. 2. Velinde got the Scythe at some point after that, presumably either during the early days or just before the launch of World of Warcraft - year 24-25 or so, somewhere in there. It would have had to have been at least a couple years after the events in Gilneas, because there had to have been time for #1 - Arugal to summon the worgen in Felwood, and more importantly #2 - Time for word to get all the way from the remote areas of Pyrewood Village in the Eastern Kingdoms to the outskirts of Kalimdor. The night elves didn't even really join the Alliance until about year 23-24 or so, so...yeah. Velinde had the Scythe in Felwood, then left for Booty Bay and Duskwood, then vanished, and the worgen appeared in Duskwood. 3. The worgen of Duskwood were there the day vanilla launched, making that year 24-25 in the timeline -- that's when Jitters found the Scythe and released the worgen. 4. At some point the Scythe found its way to Arugal, presumably after he died, because after his resurrection he was taken to Grizzly Hills, and that's where the Scythe ended up. That was just prior to Wrath's launch, so year 26-27 in the timeline -- while The Burning Crusade expansion was going on. 5. Year 27 was Wrath of the Lich King, players found the Scythe and it was taken back to Duskwood for...some obscure reason that hasn't been defined. 6. It wasn't in Duskwood for more than maybe a month or two before it was 'found' and taken to Gilneas just as the Cataclysm happened. /endquote According to the unofficial timeline we are at year 43 since the First war. So if this information is credible that would put us at 19 years since the worgen appeared in Duskwood. Theres some definite weirdness of the Scythe going back and forth. Please correct me if I've misunderstood something, this is all very confusing.

Adrian P. Ok, I wasn't sure because its been a bit since I did this video. No, I don't believe being in worgen form is exhausting for the worgen because its a part of them now- its not like druids, who run a risk of losing themselves to their animal forms (though maybe a worgen's inherent ability to shapeshift might have an effect on that!)

Hi there! Great video :) I have a question: What about worgen Death Knights? Should my character be from the "worgen army" that Arugal was creating for the Lich King? And, can the "transformation" to Death Knight "cure" the curse of the "Pack Form"? Or the control my character has must come from the Tal'dorei ritual? (That would mean that he first gained control and then was converted to DK) Can it happen the other way around? (First Dk then Worgen) And... I understand DK got little "human sense" including emotions other than hate or "vengance", does that happens with "worgen senses" as well? Or should the feral instinct overcome the dead mood? (Or is it a mixture?) Haha, sorry for the long post and the amount of questions, I have been investigating but I haven't find a lot of info. about it. Thanks! Keep it up!
@AlbertoValdezQuintoMusic9 жыл бұрын
P.d: Now I remember a quest in the DK starting zone where you have to kill a friend of yours (a worgen) and he says something about how you fought in the Gilnean Civil War or something like that. From that I guess that my character should have become a worgen from the gilnean attacks and then somehow ended under the Lich King command. But, should he have become cured by the Nelfs ritual or (repeated question) can the DK conversion cure him? Thanks!
@InquisitorAura9 жыл бұрын
+Alberto Valdez Quinto Technically, either of those could be the case- you could be a worgen from Arugal's army OR a Worgen who fought during the civil war, but chances are that you did not undergo the Trials, and you are likely able to control your shapeshifting through the magic that animates you. It's never really explained how, but I imagine Arthas didn't want an army of out of control Worgen, so he probably built in some safeties to allow you to function after he raised you. After Arthas was killed and Bolvar sealed on the Frozen Throne, no more DK's were being made, and so you could not have become a DK AFTER performing the ritual because the Cataclysm took place after Arthas was killed. As for your senses, I imagine that because you started out as human, all of your emotions and senses would be dulled, but I could make an argument for that not being the case for Worgens, who are not completely human anymore. So that would be entirely up to you. Also, it would not be possible for you to become a Worgen after you've been raised as a DK because the Curse can only be passed to living humans. Technically, I don't think you can spread it after you've become a DK, as well.
@AlbertoValdezQuintoMusic9 жыл бұрын
+Inquisitor Aura Thank you for your wisdom :) Yeah, that about first DK then Worgen sounded weird to me. About the timeline, I remember that the Curse thing happened quite a time before Cataclysm so I think Lich King-Arthas would be "alive" and stuff at that moment but the "not a living thing" argument is enough for me haha. I just noticed you got a roleplay Death Knight video :D Well... gracias!

I would like you to further explain what it is exactly that states that the potion they gave you was only temporary. From what I understand, the potion did what was needed, but the ritual to follow gave you back the ability to return to your former humanity. Granted, I dug through some quest text and found: Further Treatment-Description: 'Listen, . I'm not going to beat around the bush. There's a good chance the potion Krennan made for you wasn't a complete success. Or perhaps you need more of it. Either way, he's probably better equipped to advise you than I am. Go see him.' Basically, there's a chance it might not have been enough, but what about all outlying folk who were unable to do the ritual? I rp a worgen who cannot attain her human form, because of said information, and would like to see what facts I'm missing.
@InquisitorAura8 жыл бұрын
+jesirawr You've pretty much got it right there. I got it from the quest information. There is virtually no other explanation for it anywhere else. The potion was just to stabilize your transformation, but it was never intended to be a long term solution. Maybe you've gotten a steady supply of it? Maybe you just don't want to undergo the ritual- there is always that. Maybe it just worked for you. Based on the quest text, its implied that it works differently for everyone (or works to varying degrees, at the very least.) Maybe your character decided that was enough for them. Play with it! I have a Worgen I RP, and she just... doesn't turn human. She is also a Hunter, so it makes sense for her to think that way (to me, at least.)
@jesirawr8 жыл бұрын
+Inquisitor Aura yeah, it's a shame how vague some of this is. But the former extended ferality combined with never undergoing the ritual gave me the pliable story of a worgen who was so ingrained within her own social standards, that relearning society is a challenge and differentiating good from bad isn't within her capacity to care. I'd hate to have that jeopardized because of vague quest text.
