Skike is such a funny name. I picture a skunk with a spiked mohawk on blades when I hear that name. Maybe that should be their mascot?

The Birkie crew just opened a roller ski loop in Cable this weekend. It offers beginning, intermediate, and expert courses.

Wow Excellent question! this made me think of a lot of good drills I do, on and off skis! Many videos could come from this! SO SORRY I missed your comment earlier and I hope I can make something to help soon in the next month?? I'm traveling a lot, hard to say. But The one drill I will say here is to just work on a no pole exaggerated glide on your right leg. Try to glide 3 seconds right leg 2 second left. 4 seconds right leg 2 seconds left 5 seconds right etc. build to 10. Down hill pick up left try to glide only on right build to 20 seconds. soon you'll be in charge of glide times and even rhythms between legs!!

If it is a balance problem simply standing on one leg will help. If you do that every time you brush your teeth, it will help, if you do it with closed eyes it will increase the difficulty. You can perhaps try to stand on the right rollerski only while cruising down gentle slopes. That would help the right balance better.

Nice little vid Just bought some rollerskis and had no idea how much work it can be For now trying to get a smoother technique down I may be using to much poling After a mile in my neighborhood arms feel like rubber I am still a young 67 so need to work up to my “mental picture” of speed and fluidity
@eriklynch7037
@eriklynch7037 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Keith! Thanks so much for watching!! And Absolutely, plus the abrupt force of poling on the pavement can be surprisingly tiring, until you get used to it. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of roller skis did you get?

Here is my 5 cents: get a coach to teach you correct timing. Without someone watching and correcting you, you pick up bad habits. And thats more harm than good.

During more practice V1 and V2 are becoming easier. I watched your skate skiing snow videos which clearly described the difference.

One guy 3790 in the comments asked you about Skike V9 Fire. You are not familiar with those Skike. Many coaches neglect to use this and other models of Skike for summer training of skiers. It is true Skike is different from conventional models of rollerskis you will see this. Tell me your opinion. Thanks.

Hello Vladimir! Thank you so much for watching and commenting! And sorry for the late reply! I have been traveling a lot this winter. Yes I have tried an off road pair of roller skis. Not specifically the model you asked about. The problem with the ones i did try were: They were heavy, and VERY slow and draggy. meaning the wheel did not spin well. Also the wheels would slip easily on any surface I tried other than pavement, in any technique other than double polling. Now, I would have to try that model exactly to say, because even the road models there is quite a difference in how they feel and perform. But Other than developing strong legs on rough pavement. The model I tried close to the Skike V9 Fire, I was not able to recreate a quality cross country training motion. I definitly wont rule out those Skike V9 Fire. until I try them myself, but thats my best answer for now. Thank you. If that wdid not make sense, please let me know.
