I have successfully rooted as of last year several C. armandii 'Snowdrift' and a C. armandii 'Appleblossom' - good roots, but they are still sitting without making new growth a year later. I wish I had a trick to get them to move on and put out leaves. Thank you for the video, I'll try your technique of the double node cuttings.

I have a pastel colored clematis that I took side leaves off without cutting the vine from the mother plant…just bent it down to the ground covered with 4”-5” of soil and it grew a new vine. Cut it from the mother plant and transplanted it .

I too have tried to root clematis Armandii but realise I've not waited long enough before discarding! Am I right in thinking you have used semi ripe cutting material?

I have used both Semi-ripe and ripe and both have worked!
