HOW TO RUCHE FABRIC WITH ELASTIC THREAD | COVERSTITCH MACHINE TUTORIAL

Serger Quick Tips & Solutions: In this episode of It's Sew Easy Angela Wolf shows how to sew with elastic thread, using the Brother coverstitch Change the coverstitch machine by using the looper and middle needle.
Increase the looper tension and decrease the needle tension. Thread the looper with elastic thread and standard polyester thread in the needle.
Either continue around in circles when stitching or tie off the threads at each end.

Thanks for this. When I use my sewing machine, I have to hand wind the bobbins which is a pain. Tip#1: Once you play with fabric scraps to find your settings, apply an iron on light weight tear away stabilizer like Totally Stable for knits to keep the fabric flat while stitching all those rows. I have used adding machine tape in a pinch. Tip#2: Steam (holding iron *above* the rows) the elastic once you remove stabilizer. It "activates" it .

Thank-you for posting this video - I was searching for something like this after seeing RTW clothes that seem to be made with a chainstitch.. Are you able to advise which setting I should try adjusting if, after about 10cm of working seemingly well, the elastic stops getting caught by the upper thread? I've already used up 10m of elastic trying to get this right!!!

Sounds like a skipped stitch - have you tried a new needle?
