Thanks for the tips! I ran my first 10 miler in 2021 - time was 1:17, in 2022 I raced again with a massive improvement of 1:01, and this year I got 56 minutes, even with an injury lasting all summer. I’m excited to see what I can do next year, def looking towards that 50 minute mark

Nice job dropping that 56 10-miler and the improvement you have made it..consistent and persistent action defintely goes a long way. Keep up the superior training and racing.

Watching this again after the Great South Run today - I managed 1:02:44. Pleased with that but those extra 3 minutes will be hard to claw back. I can get there!

Outstanding race Isaac! 62:44 is very tough. Yes, you will go sub 60 soon. Keep up the great work and that 62:44 is a legit time. Nice work!

Great video!! Running a sub 1 hour 10 miler is a big milestone, and it's certainly one of my goals. My best time for a 10 Miler is 1:01:49, which was set during my Half Marathon PB just over 2 years ago. At the moment I'm running well (I think I'm in good form and could challenge that PB) but still need to find some more performance to break the 1 hour barrier, when I next race 10 Miles. I'm confident I can do it, it's just a matter of time. I hope to post another comment on this video when I do break it one day. Thanks for the insight.

I know you can do it invincible. The fact that you have run 1:01:49 proves it. Keep me updated and keep up the great work!

Great channel, funnily enough came across you as i have my 10 mile race Sunday, only pushing for sub 1:10 as have been hit by covid a month ago and now hit with flu yesterday so my goals have had to be lowered unfortunately

Good luck at t your race on Sunday. Hope you get a sub 70 which is an outstanding time too. Hope all is well in the UK. Found out my Pennington family ancenstry dates back to the Muncaster Castle in England. Hope to visit there one day. You are in a beautiful part of the world GammingRunner. I lived in Belgium for nearly 2 years and was able to visit London but wanted to see more of England

Thanks for your video! Do you have any advice for long time runner that has a race in 3 weeks? I haven’t been following a schedule and now worry it will effect my race time.
@rundreamachieve2 ай бұрын
Trust in your training, there is very little you can do at this point, maintenance mileage, do a 3 mile run at goal 10 mile race pace 4 days out, jog easy the remaining days or off. Carbo load starting 7 days out from the goal 10 miler. Good luck out there danni. Run the tangents in the race! Negative split if you can.

Hey Nathan thanks for the great content as usual. My next goal is 59:59 for 10 miles. (Oct 24) I’ve done 2:59:30 marathon at London this year, also 1:21:55 half my pb for 10miles is 62:01. Q: Training for 10 mile how long should my longest run be in you opinion? Btw I’m 57 yrs young.
@rundreamachieve5 ай бұрын
Superior work dropping a 2:59.30 at age 57. THAT is awesome and you are definitely well on your way to getting that sub 60. You inspire me reading these times. Keep me posted on your progress. VERY well done! Longest long run? 13-16 miles. 💪👊✊💪💪💪

Hi Nathan, as a 47 yr old runner my current marathon PB is 2:56:19 as of 2 weeks ago, 10km PB 37:40 as of 7 weeks ago. 10 miles in 1 hr is my next goal, I am currently 174lbs aiming to get to 160lbs by Feb 2025. I run 13- 18 miles every Sunday is there one key workout you could suggest I must implement to help me towards 10 miles in 59:59. Thank you.
@rundreamachieve22 күн бұрын
Hey Simon! GREAT work having dropped that 2:56.19 at age 47. THAT is inspiring to say the least. I think the most important thing in going after a sub 600min 10 miler and is a longer build of 4-5 months. Continue to train at paces down under or around 5:35 mile pace to get that 5:59 mile pace to feel more in control and less intimidating. Continue to develop your speed, if you are training once per week at or close to 5:00 mile pace how much easier is sub 6 going to feel. Your times prove you have it in you to run well below 60 minutes, even at 47. I am 48 and respect how fast you are running at your age. Keep up the superior work!

Thanks for posting this! I ran close to 52 minutes in high school, back in 2007. I’m not nearly that fast anymore, and don’t have aspirations to match any of those high school times. Now I like doing big elevation days with running and rock climbing. I hope to set some course records in the 7mi - 18mi range this summer, and I think the AT and LT training for a 10mi will be appropriate. I signed up for a 10mi race in 8 weeks to prep for my summer goals. How would you work hill training into your advice, for someone whose 10mi race will probably involve 4000-5000 feet of vert? Would you recommend subbing those 800 repeats for hill fartleks?
@rundreamachieve8 ай бұрын
That is an insane time for 10 miles as a high schooler. Nice work! Yeah you could definitely substitute some 800s for hill fartlek workouts for sure. Keep me posted on your progress in 2024. You have an enormous anaerobic engine and still plenty of years of running left in you brother. 💪💪💪💪

@@rundreamachieve Thanks! For context, it was with The Woodlands High School with Dan Green as the coach, and the legendary Joe Vigil from Adams State as our coach's consultant. We were running 90 miles a week. Too much in my opinion for 5k training. But we were all great half marathoners, at least 5 of us running close to 1:10 in the houston half!

Hey Nathan Still putting your awesome advice to good use Im smashing my pb's on so many distances Recently ran 15km in 1:11:09 Im running shorter distances much quicker than my longer race pace for 1/2 marathon My goal for a 1/2 is now 1:39:39 which i now think is achievable My weekly distance is now 140-160k and mixing it up between 80% longer low heartrate and 20% speed and interval runs Im getting faster every week and no injuries Just wondering if i could try anything else to improve Thanks again for all your advice Even us old plodders can get faster and stronger Cheers

Outstanding work BB!!!! 1:11:09 for 15KM is moving. Well done and yes, keep me updated. Yes, 1:39:39 is possible for sure. JOG on easy days, at this point recovery is critical. Continue to visualize hitting your goal daily for 10-15 minuets. No devices or distractions. Mental training is BIG! Keep up the great work!

Hello Nathan, I’m actually running in the Army Ten Miler on Oct. 13th. My training plan is still in the draft phase but I’m trying to figure out what key sessions to add to my plan about 4 weeks prior from the race so I can still have stimulus going into my race but not be as tired. My goals is to run 58min or below.
@rundreamachieve3 ай бұрын
Hey William. Thanks for your service and wishing you success at the 10 miler, that is a great race and I have run many of them so know that course. 6x1mile@5k pace, 16x400m@3k-5k pace, 10-12x200m reps@3k race pace...do a 10 day taper going into the 10 miler. Run the tangents in that race, no need to run further than you need to, let your competition do that. Focus on a negative split too, run that second half faster than the first, the second half of that course also has more hills on it than the first (although the hills are gentle and not massive..just a few steady climbs but nothing big). Keep me posted on how it went out there for you. Have a lot of good memories from that race.

@@rundreamachieveHey Nathan, I know it’s a bit late but I finished the Army Ten Miler a few weeks ago. I ran 57:20 for 10 miles. Made sure to try to cruise the hills/straights, although I might’ve tried to negative split too hard on the 2nd half of the race because my legs felt like sandbags the last 2 miles. Probably should’ve been more conservative around mile 6-7. 😅 Despite that I had a lot of fun and now I’m training up for my last big race (13.1mi) in December before I take time off. Thank you again for your tips and have a great day.

awesome job dropping that 57:20..NOT an easy time to achieve at all. Outstanding work and congrats!! I know that course in DC very well. You were definitely ready for that performance. Good luck in your upcoming half

Hi Nathan! This is Dawson. How should I work on lowering my heart rate during my runs?
@rundreamachieve3 жыл бұрын
focus on "feel" more than anything. HR is drastically effected if running in the heat and humidity so if it is hot out BACK OFF the pace. Also, if running on hillier terrain make sure to adjust your pace. If running downhill your heart rate will drop significantly so don't speed up just to try to maintain a certain HR, focus on maintaining the effort as once you get back to a flat section the HR will adjust accordingly. Hope this helps. As you get fitter your HR will remain the same but your paces per mile/kilometer will significantly speed up which is a good thing. Keep me updated on your progress Dawson and thanks for supporting this channel
