Weather looks terrific for a trail marathon... if you don't mind the wind across the fields - great video!! Thanks Stephen

This video is fab. I started running back in March after spending life trying not going far on my feet. I only really run on trail as it pleases my brain a lot more than road. Looking at doing my 2nd half in a couple of months and hoping to move up to marathon distance later this year. Thanks for taking the time to upload and make this video i've took a lot from it

Stephen, I have watched all your videos and this is by far the most informative of them all. I am in the Forces and am relatively new to marathons. I have completed only 1 marathon but 5 ultra/extreme marathons. the thing I find hard is finding a race. I seem to be forever on youtube/facebook/Google trying to find a run or even upcoming events. I would love the opportunity to run with you one day 👌 as you have the same outlook on running as me.

Really great vids - have enthused me back to running after some medical probs. Managing to do half marathons but can't seem to get up to longer distances (probably because I'm a fat boy not a racing snake!). Suggestion for a run to film? How about the Great Langdale half/marathon. All on roads, but boy what roads - there's a 1 in 3.5 incline! Scenery is stunning!

Great video. I will be doing my first trail marathon this year, then a 50k all going well. I have been trying to eat real food and was planning on using the scaps so it was great to see you doing this. Can you point me in the direction of more info about training to burn fat please.

Hi Neil, I have actually weened myself off !S-Caps. The latest evidence suggests that blood sodium levels do not decrease when sweating. If anything they increase as blood volume decreases due to dehydration. With regard to burning fat, search for LCHF (low carb, high fat). I would avoid fad diets in general. For me, it's a case of slowly reducing your carb intake. Less pasta, less rice, less bread, fewer potatoes, less refined sugar, more full fat milk, real butter and oily fish. Try running a few training runs on an empty stomach. Resist the urge to fill yourself full of gels or sports drinks. You will suffer in the first few long runs and don't completely ignore high GI carbs, just do it less. I love Coke on my long runs for example! But I also did a 20 mile training run yesterday on no breakfast and had nothing but water during the run.

Great video and informative. Am intrigued about the Ella's kitchen can you eat the food straight out of the container and do you normally have a few at once or just 1 every so often

Gareth Finlay hi Gareth. Yes you can just eat it straight from the pouch. I started having two each marathon. One at 9 miles and one at 18. As my body has become more adept at fat burning I generally only have one now at around half way.

I was training to run my first 50K and had to put a hold on it because of a re-occurring injury. Down for summer but should be back in a month or two. I am addicted to trails and would rather be on a trail than pavement.
