Thanks so much, Seth. Yesterday - at age 57 - I won the Master’s Division (Over 40) in the Mississippi River Half-Marathon in 1:33:30. Slowing down but not slow. Your emphasis on “quick feet” helped me improve to an average cadence of 192. Posted to your Facebook page - really appreciate your tips on training, nutrition and staying positive. Question of the day: I have been struggling with motivation during the pandemic. Its still easy to run 5-6 times per week, but I struggle with structured workouts without in- person races to run . No speed work, no threshold and limited weekly long run. Hoping to change this soon! Great content Seth! Keep up the good work!

Ooh this is my first QD answer!! My greatest challenge at this moment is going slow. It’s funny to say that because by no means am I fast but I am just now learning what proper training looks like and building aerobic capacity and it means slowing down the majority of my runs and that is hard, especially if I want to keep a good cadence. I just hope it will allow me to continue to enjoy running for longer and allow myself to push harder in races and start chasing PRs. I really like your channel and I appreciate you and your family! I have an 8,5 and 2 year old and I like seeing content that promotes family and togetherness like yours does! Thank you!

For me, a PB is when you get your best time unofficially, perhaps at a time trial or maybe a split within a longer race. A PR is when the result is officially recorded, hence “personal RECORD.” A bit overcomplicated, but that’s how I like it :)

QOD want to add intervals to my training, I’m 57 did my first marathon last year in a time of 03:23:35 came first in my age group & I’m really happy with that, almost all of my training has been running up & down the trails rolling hills, I’ve never added intervals in my training, I really like the way I have been training over the hills, but I would like to improve my speed for 5k & 10k & hopefully marathon distance, did one set of intervals last week, 1k repeats but finding it hard to enjoy haha 😆 thanks Seth

Very similar to your own pie chart. Bi-annually I write a list of 24hrs, fill in what I typically do at that time and begin to adjust things that are high priority to be of more time; cutting out wasted time. I've implemented so many new & different factors to my routine in such a short period of time that I feel like I'm juggling chainsaws sometimes. My challenge has become managing each day as efficiently as possible. Over time working to streamline the routine to run like a well oiled machine.

I have always used the term PR. QD: 1. Being a full time teacher who also coaches during 2 seasons and working at a lot of basketball games during the winter, I often don't have a lot of time to train. 2. Right now- it's super cold here in Wisconsin...making me have to run on treadmill haha!

QD: Two things; 1. It’s cold. I don’t mind the cold runs but I find workout runs in zero degrees is a bit harder than easy runs. 2. Life has thrown some curveballs. Had to go to a funeral so traveled from Ohio to Michigan yesterday. Traveling to Maryland next weekend. So trying to pivot runs to keep mileage high for marathon training has become challenging. But it’s all worth it and I feel blessed to be able to keep on.

My understanding is that if you want to run fast you have to have several sessions where you go fast, alternating them with slow run sessions for recovery and increase the volume, plus technique exercises, strengthening exercises, core exercises, strides, massages, etc. Not easy, it requires dedication and time. Greatest challenge: Recovery! I haven't really mastered the art of being able to string together several runs where I feel good about the run because after a few days in a row, I feel my body getting tired. I take 1-2 days off running per week and most of my runs are easy, but I think I haven't gotten my stretch/strength/protein eating routine together. I wanna run more miles! I really enjoy them, but I need to figure out how to recover. Trying to be patient. :)

Awesome vlog! Started watching for shoe reviews and stayed for all this awesome content. My current struggle rn would be time management as well. I'm a part time college student, but doing remote learning(currently A&P2) to get into a competitive Radiography program and its basically teaching myself, which I'm finding is taking A LOT of time. On top of studying, I work 7 or 8 hours a day at a restaurant, about an hour away from home, for 4 or 5 days while also trying to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep at night, on top of staying on top of running/training (5-6 days a week/about 30-35miles a week), as well as, eating better, and finding the time to eat since I seem to always be pinched for time! I really want to be able to get up to 50 miles a week towards the end of the year, but I'm just feeling everything out and adjusting according to what's going on in life😅 im definitely experiencing the learning to say No more recently, but gosh, sometimes that FOMO really hits!

Some days it can be my focus on work, other days it's sleep (because working two part time jobs, one being at a commercial radio conglomerate where I take any hours given to me so that means I don't really have a schedule to begin with). Seth, man, I have the same goal as you in terms of trials and then some in the sphere of running and broadcasting and where I want to take my broadcasting and running career. The goals I have I know can be done. The fact that I am young (mid-20s) and single makes me want to take advantage of what I can now while I have the chance to.

QD: My current training challenge is the weather. Since Friday it has been between -20 and -30 celsius here. When you add in the wind chill and the unusual level of humidity..... it is too damn cold to go outside and run. In the past when it would get this cold here, I would go to the indoor field house we have, which has an indoor track, and run. But that is closed due to COVID. So..... my training is shoveling snow and yoga to keep the body engaged. I plan to practice 1 hour of power yoga today followed by 1 hour of a deep stretch and relaxation yin yoga. Hopefully that helps my legs and body feel great when we come out of this deep freeze.

So every running day (5 days a week) I have to find ways to do my sessions despite the curfew, while going to work and in addition to that the weather is not on my side. I mean ... I do my recovery run at 6 am before work, in the dark, the rain and the cold. my speed session are on wednesday, and this week we had a strong strong strong wind : some of my intervals, i was giving everything i could by i ran so slow having the wind worling against me (and I can do my session inside : every gym is closed). So the session was not a success. But I had no choice than go run at noon despite the weather ; it was the only period were I was both allowed to be out, not working and not in the dark of night... For now, I continue running anyway, but having to find ways is exhausting...

QD: pain...and frustration as a result...Ive been building up from 10k week in the last week of 2020, to 41k week, which was last week...so it took 4 weeks, and throughout that, I wasnt really feeling tired...but this week, I was just completely drained since the start, and I had to cut the week short on friday, when my right leg from knee down started hurting on an easy 6k run...so yeah...I am pretty upset...and hope the leg feels better on tuesday, when I usually start my running week with a free run
