im getting error Cross-Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource so i guess it wont work on localhost

It will. This isn't Vscode issue. You can disable SSL in Chrome. But you can also install https on local host. This might also happen if you're trying to make a call to https URL, from http localhost.

you said at 6:43, make sure you have "liveserver.settings.advancedcustomebrowsercmdline". OK, I don't, I have "liveServer.settings.donotShowInfoMsg": true. Now what? update: I figured that out but it doesn't work. So, so many questions... does JS have to be embedded in HTML? does it have to be in the head? It keeps asking me to open a folder and create a json file.
