How do you carry your mobile phone when running? Maybe it's not something you've ever thought about, but if you're going on a longer run, you might want the extra security, just in case! With that in mind, Heather has been exploring all the options for you!

We do seem to be attached to our mobile phones in our day to day life, when you’ve got a handbag or jean back pocket it’s not a problem, but when it comes to carrying your phone on a run it poses some challenges.
As we started to cover longer distances we realised we needed to find a way to have it as back up. There are plenty of options out there, Heather thought she'd give a few a try, to help you choose what can work for you.

I'm a casual / moderate runner, new to it this season (more-so in love with barbells, and having a COVID-affair with cardio). I love my FlipBelt! I've been using it for several months and it hasn't lost a bit of elasticity. It's amazing how much you can cram into it! And, like Heather said, you truly don't know it's there. One thing I do differently than what was shown in the video: when I put my phone in a front pocket of the belt, like Heather did, I then turn the belt around so the phone is over the small of my back instead. It vanishes -- I completely forget it's there. Oh, and there's a clip in one of the pockets for you to put a key on -- very secure!

Since I have a phone case I starting using 2 wrist bands and used those to secure the phone around my arm like an armband but it is more comfortable than most armbands with phone pouches. It also fits around any phone size and case size. It is also easy to access the phone if needed and the wrist bands are not costly at all, even for name brand ones.

I've been running with a waistband just like yours for almost 3 years now, and it works great. I have the phone there, a credit card, keys and a couple of wet wipes, just in case. When I run on a trail I do have a vest or a water belt, so the phone goes there, but some of those have only limited space, so for that occasion I actually have a separate, much smaller phone, just for running: mine is Unihertz Atom I bought off Kickstarter. It has everything I need: Strava, Garmin Connect, Audible, Spotify, and a camera, of course, and I don't need a larger phone while running anyway.

quad lock arm band/mount is my solution across everything. I have a quad lock case on my iPhone, it locks onto the arm band for running, and locks onto a mount that i have across all 4 of my bikes, tri bike, road bike, MTB bike and motobike, locks in and out easy as, and it protects my phone from being dropped, just like a normal cover.

I carry my phone in the pocket of my running vest. It's important to remember that phones are electronic devices, therefore using anything that traps moisture (sweat) is going to damage your phone battery in the long term. Breathable material or at the very least a vest pocket that allows the circulation of air.

I've always ran with an arm strap but since I have no muscles (Don't swim due to childhood PTSD) so it sometimes just hurts my arms due to the weight pivoting when I am doing low intensity runs. They do stretch out over time tho and a lot so I burn through about 3 in a summer season and 1 in winter. I just find running while gripping the phone hurts the arm and causes even more energy wasted and lactate buildup and I start dropping my arms a bit.

Initially i used to carry my phone with hands and did running but for long runs its not fesable, i purchased a elastic skin-tight shots with pocket to hold mobile. Now it's working fine for me.

I bought one of those slim adjustable running belts that can hold my driver's license, car key, and my phone. Never have to hold anything in my hand or have anything in my pockets when I run now.

Is it just me or are comfy running belts difficult to find? Struggling with hip flexion whenever I wear one and if I wear one pulled up, it squeezes on my lower abdominal muscles and feels awkward. Would carrying a running vest or backpack be more comfortable? Please advise. Thanks!

I have my phone in a bum bag, my inhaler in my back pocket and I run with a backpack. I do this to add weight over time so that I can run with ultralight camping gear. So I may be a little more prepared than most people but I am a bushcrafter and wild Camper. The phone in the bum bag works really well.

Do some runners still use those armbands? We got one of those stashed somewhere. I am just returning to running and wondering how i'd carry my phone. I saw some running shorts built with something like cycling shorts inside that has a pocket on the side. That flipbelt without the buckle seems the best option, phones would be tucked snug, like how it is in cycling jersey pockets.

I have thin belt/pack... it’s about big enough for my phone and nothing more... the brand starts out well and seems to keep it dry but eventually the zipper gives out... I just roll the zip to mid point and it holds it... I think the flip belt would be better...

For long distances I'm used to run with my phone to listen to some music. I ran 2 full marathons holding my phone in my hand and it's ok. Now I'm experiencing lots of pain in the shoulder due to the holding of the phone for over a hour. I might need to adapt

I used to run with an armband phone holder, but always having to buy a nice one every time I got a new phone was a bit tiresome, so I discovered the Flip belt I now have two in different colours, will buy more so I can coordinate with running outfits, but I love this especially as flip belt also have a 500ml bottle that fits in it, so I carry my phone, money, car & house keys & my water bottle in the Flip belt, stays in place, longest distance done so far is just over 10k

I run with a Nathan Running Belt. This way I can have my phone with me hands free, and not worry about about tightening my hands or arms in anyway. Secondary reason for me to have a phone is the activity tracker and rewards in Pokemon Go keeps me motivated on days I don't want to be running. :)

I found that phone grip is another good choice when you hold your phone in your hand. Keeping it between your fingers and it will flow with you hand. No strength grab needed. Especially when you phone size is big.

All my nike running shorts have a perfectly sized hip zip pocket for my older iPhone se. Then I got a new phone and it doesn't fit! My brother has something resembling a sportsbra/dungaree hybrid which is for holding your phone against your chest. Looks weird but works for large smartphones!

I would have expected triathletes know about and use Quadlock. You get a case for the phone which attaches to various mounts including for bicycle stems or handlebars and also an arm strap. I run with one regularly and I know folk who use the stem and bar mounts when cycling.

I have two Fitbit gears with GPS and all the power. Unfortunately, the only way to put my own music is thru the desktop app, which will stop working in October 2022. And I currently have linking issues with those gears (in both the mac and windows versions). That's why I will be using an iPod touch instead. Once again, thanks for this video...
